Thoughts on the stock market...
DH and I just fully funded my Roth IRA since this is the last year we'll be able to do so. I know the economy is looking pretty bad right now but we both kind of feel that if you're in it for the long term, things WILL get better eventually (maybe in 2 years, 5 years, 10 years) and now is a good time to buy. If things don't get better, it means the market and our economy totally crashed and we'll probably have bigger problems. 
(We didnt put all of our money in the market, but I'm thinking its a good time to buy certain funds/stocks)
Thoughts?

my BIL who is somewhat of a finance guru has buying up a storm. so had DH's boss. both are pretty well off. also, Buffet said last week he is buying tons of US stock. I love his quote "be fearful when people are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful"

My BIL (sister's husband) is a president at BOA - He has been telling me for years to forget about the market and just put the max in my TDA which is a guaranteed 8.25%
I'll ask him today if there is anything he suggests buying, but I dont think he has moved any of his - He says "Let it Ride"

I was listening to a radio show last week, and they were talking about how "This is the time when the middle class can turn into the rich"
Which I agree with; if you have enough in savings to allow you to invest, you can make a good buck when everything increases.

We invested in a mutual fund of consumer staples (walmart, johnson & johnson, campbells, coca cola etc) -- in other words, products people will continue to use even if there is a recession

I think now is a perfect buying opportunity if you have some money that you dont "need" for a few years. I personally would only look at stable blue chip stocks- I would avoid trendy stocks and any stock in restaurants or stuff like that- to me when times are tight thats one of the first industries to be hit.
