Threatened Miscarriage
Hello ladies,
Please keep my DH and I (and our unborn baby) in your prayers.
Warning, the following may be TMI.
I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I bled some bright red blood - a little more than spotting but it wasn't heavy. I also don't feel queasy anymore like I had been since being pregnant, which worries me. Yesterday, I also had some minor cramping. This is the 2nd time this has happened (the first time was a week ago).
I called my doctor and they had me come in for an ultrasound. Today I have only some brown spotting and still minor cramps. When I got the ultrasound, they didn't see a heartbeat or anything other than an unclear spot that may be our developing embryo. He said I may have just miscalculated how far along I am and that's why they don't have a clear picture yet. It could be that I'm really closer to 5 weeks then 6 weeks. I had just gone off the pill and certainly didn't have regular cycles, so this is a good possibility. The doctor also checked my cervix which was not dialated (that was the good news!). The doctor said I am having a "threatened miscarriage" and said anyone bleeding at this stage of pregnancy is said to be having a threatened miscarriage. He said there is a 50-50 chance that I will miscarry given the exam and my symptoms. He took blood for my HCG levels today, and I have to go back on Friday (48 hours) to see if my HCG is doubling or decreasing - of course if it's doubling that will be good news, but if it's decreasing then most likely I will miscarry. He also tested my progesterone levels.
I probably won't know anything until Friday late morning/early afternoon, but please keep us in your prayers. If anyone has experienced anything like this, please respond here or FM me.

I'm so sorry to hear this I hope it all works out, Maybe you can call him and have him prescribe you some progesterone suppositories to help you. try to stay off your feet!

I went thru the same thing at about 6 weeks. Stay strong!! I will pray for doubling HCG numbers for you!!

sorry to hijack, but i also had spotting and cramping when i was 6 weeks. I went to the doctor and she did blood work also. She had me wait to do the sono till i was 6 1/2 weeks b/c she said it was so early at the time it maybe hard to see anything yet. She was worried though and also told me i may be miscarrying at the time. She put me on progesterone supplements right away though just to play it safe. Well sure enough the blood work came back and my progesterone levels were soo low, thank god she put me on the supplements. I ended up going on to have a beautiful, healthy baby boy who is now a year old! Hang in there, it sounds like your doctor is doing all the right things!

I had the exact same diagnosis at 5w5d.
<---------------------------------- She is the result.
I had the bleeding and the cramps. They told me it was a threatened miscarriage and there was nothing we could do but wait and see. that everything works out for you like it did for us!
