I am SO incredibly disappointed with the "payout" from this company. I actually feel like it's a scam.....I sent them a HUGe bag filled with excellent condition name brand clothing....natuica, ralph lauren, gymboree, etc. and they freaking send me $11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM LIVID! I would NEVER use this company again....for the time I took sorting, folding, and sending this bag, I would have donated it had I known it was going to be such an insulting payout. Obviously I am not looking to get what I paid for for the clothes, but $11 ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

Seriously? I just spent the afternoon packing a bag for them. It's all women's stuff - Banana Republic, the Limited, Ann Taylor, etc. According the web site I should get between $5-$10 on average for each piece so that would add up to way over $100. I'd be so pissed if I only get $11. Did they give you a reason? Did they reject most of the stuff you sent them?

ETA: Wow, I just Googled "Thredup scam" and came up with a ton of hits. Here is just one site: People are very mad at this company!

I am surprised to hear that! Did you look at your bag pay out to see what you are getting?

It's not a ton of $, but I have never gotten less than $50 for a bag and just sent back my 5th one. They are VERY picky about what they take I have noticed that. And nothing under 12 months.

Re: thred up

Thank you for the update. I wasn't happy with the loathing I received from there. I donate my clothing at savers and they give me 30 percent off coupon. It works out better. Chat Icon

I haven't tried this, but after reading a lot of the reviews, it sounds like it is not really a good deal. I don't like that they don't give you back the clothing they don't accept. I think you are better off donating or giving to a friend with younger dc.

If you are doing all that anyway, just sell them at a consignment sale. It is a little bit of extra work above that (entering and tagging) You get 60% back and you have the option to take what doesn't sell or have them donate it. That is one of my biggest issues w/thred up - they just donate it and you don't get your rejected clothes back. Seems like it would easy for them to randomly assign a worth for whatever reason they want.

Re: thred up

I just sent in a bag of mostly womens' clothing, with a few kids things in there as well.

Very curious to see what i get

I know they are picky, and i know i could have just donated the stuff, but the way i look at it is that i got a bag of stuff out of my house - if i get $$ great, if i don't, it's gone and i don't have to bother with it.

Re: thred up

I am a picky person, so I know the stuff was in good condition. I asked for a detailed email showing why things were rejected....of course I didn't get it. I am so so so disappointed. Interested to hear others experiences....
