Throat

Hi Ladies,

I'm not sure if anyone on this board has any medical background, but I'm desperate at this point.

I've been going hoarse since September. I've gone back and forth to an allergist, nada. ENT, nada.

I can feel the drip in the back of my throat, and it always come on with a sore throat. This began on Monday, and here I am hoarse and having to teach tomorrow. To boot, my chest hurts.

Any suggestions as to what is going on or any remedies, please?!

I have your exact symptoms.... very sore throat, post nasal drip, and chest pain.... turned out to be acid reflux, of all things (took me forever to figure out that this what the problem, I never suspected it). The acid actually comes all the way up into my ears and causes pain there too. I took a 2-week course of Prilosec & I take Pepcid daily, also made some diet modifications & it's gotten a lot better.

ETA: I also went to ENT & they didn't figure it out... I totally thought it was a respiratory issue, or a heart issue because of the chest pain (even went to a cardiologist but my heart was fine)... never suspected digestive issues.

Yep-sounds lijke reflux. See your PCP or a gastro.

You can try the otc prilosec first to see if that helps.

I needed the prescription strength.

Right now I was told I have bronchitis - boo.
