Throwing parties on a holiday weekend

Don't flame me please, but who else hates this?
I do. I like to be able to go away on a long weekend and I felt obligated to attend a party of my close friend's child this weekend, so I "couldn't" go away. Chat Icon

Re: Throwing parties on a holiday weekend

I don't mind parties at any time...I figure if I have plans to go away then my freinds will understand...and if we are staying home for a long weekend then a party/bbq seems like the perfect way to enjoy the weekend

Being that I got married during Labor day weekend, I'd have to say no, parties during holiday weekends don't bother me at all. Chat Icon

I agree with Booboobunny...

I got married 4th of July (was a Thursday that year) and have been to weddings on Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend, Columbis Day weekend Halloween......you name it!!

So I am OK with it too!

I actually had a baby shower to go to Saturday morning so DH & I left to go to PA after it...no biggie for usChat Icon

I don't mind it- because we never go away on long weekends.
So if it gives us something to do- I'm all for it! Chat Icon

I'm with you...I think it's annoying too. I feel robbed of my time with my family if something is planned on a holiday weekend.

I typically don't mind them. And if for some reason we can't attend the party I'm sure our friends/family would understand.

I wouldn't mind a Saturday morning but on a Sunday afternoon.....Anyway, alot of people were saying how they hate partys on a holiday weekend and how it ruined them from being able to go away if they wanted.

My cousin got married July 3, 1999.

Almost 8 years later I will never forget the traffic [oh the horror.....] the heat at the outdoor reception. Between that and my other cousin's graduation part on Father's Day - Ugh - i told myself I would never host anything on a holiday weekend.

I don't mind at all and actually got married on a sunday memorial day weekend. I don't expect people to feel obligated to come just because they received an invite. We had 25 couples say no to us and I was fine with it.

Re: Throwing parties on a holiday weekend

I guess it doesn't bother me because I don't have that much of a social life that I couldn't figure out which party I want to go to!!!
