Has anyone ever had this? Is there anything makes it go away?

Re: Thrush

Thrush is I believe an infection of somekind of the tongue. Infants tend to get it a lot. Its like little white bumps.
I believe you need an anitobiotic to get rid of it. We send children home and they may not return for 24 hours and must have a dr.s note.

Re: Thrush

My daughter had it when she was a newborn. I had to put nystatin suspension into her mouth a few times a day. Her entire tongue, gums, and the insides of her cheeks were white. It is very common for babies to get.

Re: Thrush

I get thrush constantly from my asthma meds. It is a yeast infection in the mouth. Doctors can treat it with a varity of medications. Some are like mouth washes and some are antibiotics. It can get painful and anoying. The best way to treat it it to see a doctor and drink plenty of fluids.

Re: Thrush

I've had it as well a while ago from taking a significant amount of medicine for what was thought to be mono...turns out I had a really bad flu....but needless to say, since it is a yeast infection of the mouth, you need to be on nystatin or some thing of this nature. I remember having to suck on these tablets three times a day...no chewing...they have to completely dissovle. I also had a mouth wash solution. It tends to get very painful so avoid spicy foods, citrus and all of that stuff. Definitely go to the doctor. If it's not treated correctly it will keep coming back. Yoghurt is good to fight it, but won't get rid of it. You need medication. Good luck and feel better!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is how I treat it. If it is really bad I will also double my normal Vit C intake, and also back it up with GoldenSeal Root & Echinacea.
