In my school we do it like this:
Connection: "yesterday we were working on..."
Teach: "Today I am going to teach you..."
Active Engagement: "Turn & Talk to your partner" (some type of active engagement with the kids at the mini lesson, before they go back to their seats. can be turn & talk, quick jot on post it notes, or even re-reading a part of a book together. I've even done some interactive writing as this part.
Link: "Today & Everyday..."
Then the kids go back to their seats and do their independend and partnership work.
Followed by the Share, where we share an example of something smart that a child or partnership did.

I just graduated from the TC Literacy specialist program, so I've pretty much lived and breathed TC workshop for the past 3 years. If you ever need any help, feel free to FM.

My school does not require this but I am so into it. My Dual Language partner comes from 9 years in the city. I am so intrigued by it. I am learning myself I have the units of study and packets given to me...what else should I do??? Are there any weekend classes?????

They do hold workshops twice a year. The summer institutes are coming up, but they really do fill up quickly. They offer a "Saturday Reunion" that's usually in March, and all of that is free.
I really love the program and believe in it whole-heartedly!!
