Thyroid problems without health insurance?
DH and I don't have health insurance available to us right now (self-employed) and the marketplace insurance doesn't really do anything for us. I may be able to get health insurance some time in the next year.
Recently I've been experiencing major symptoms of hypothyroidism. Overwhelmingly exhausted throughout the day, always cold, ice cold hands and feet, wrinkled fingertips, my hair is falling out, my skin has been super dry and I've been dealing with some depression and anxiety.
I've had moderate signs of all of these things for a long time but in the past 3 months they've gotten really bad. The wrinkled fingertips and overwhelming exhaustion are the newest. I've always eaten right and still have managed to put on 15 lbs since November.
I want to get my thyroid checked as thyroid disease is very common in my family, but I don't know where to go without health insurance. I'm out east in Suffolk County, near Riverhead. Are there any low cost clinics that do this?
Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear this. I'm out east but have no really helpful suggestions. Do you have a primary doctor? I have hypothyroid and my primary put me on Synthroid for it a year ago.
You might go back and look through the state's offerings for healthy insurance. You might qualify for a subsidy. Try speaking with one of the navigators for help. I've noticed a number of people on the main forum have done so. Good luck!

It may be cheaper to just pay OOP for the visit and see if the doctor can work with you around the meds through samples and such.
