Thyroid/TSH question
What was your TSH level when your dr put you on meds? Did he do a full thyroid panel, or just check your TSH? Do you think 3.5 would warrant a low dose?

Re: Thyroid/TSH question
I don't remember my level but I'd say it's worth a low dose of synthroid. It's not an expensive drug. Esp if you are trying to get pregnant...

Thanks. Just having a variety of symptoms. Not TTC now, but I'm not feeling 'right'.

Thyroid/TSH question
MyTSH was 16.8 when I was first diagnosed, and they did a full thyroid panel. But, I do think that 3.5 would warrant a low dose, especially if you are TTC. Ideally, they have me aiming for a level between 1 and 2.

Re: Thyroid/TSH question
with 3.5, you should be on a low dose. It will only get worse and before you start "Feeling it" you should get it under control.
Also, when your TSH is elevated, it's a good idea to get a full thyroid panel and scan to check for nodules and/or goiter.

At 1.78 TSH level he upped your rx? I'm trying to understand what you mean. He wouldn't give you anything at 4.0? Did you feel bad at 4.0?

Re: Thyroid/TSH question
You should really go to an endocrinologist for proper care. My twin cousins were getting their thyroid regulated by their primary for years and finally went to my endo and they were not taking the correct amount (and way off).
mine was 5.6 when DX with hypo and has hashimotos but I the t4 and t3 are also important

Mine was 5.0 when i was diagnosed.
I was on meds and stopped taking them after the baby was born. Another dr checked my thyroid recently and im back up to 5.12 or something like that.
I am making an appt for an endo this week

Re: Thyroid/TSH question
I was 3.2 when I went on synthroid but I was seeing an RE and TTC. After pregnancy they kept me on the same amount I took when 9 months preg with twins. My level has been steady for a year. I think it is around 1 now. I see an endocrinologist and have a thyroid panel done every 6 months.
ETA: I started out taking 25 mcg. At the end of pregnancy I was taking 75 mcg. After pregnancy they tried to wean me off meds and when I was lowered to 50 mcg my level spiked. I have been on 75 mcg for over a year and have been steady. The endocrinologist explained that thyroid issues come out during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause usually since those are the biggest changes to our bodies.
ETA2: If you are TTC "they" want your level below 2.5
