Tiger Woods: Wife Elin 'Acted Courageously'
Tiger Woods is speaking out about the car crash Friday that set off a stream of salacious rumors about his marriage to Elin Nordegren – and allegations that he cheated with a New York club hostess Rachel Uchitel.
Speaking about the event, which occurred just feet from the driveway of his Florida home, the golf champion, 33, broke his silence and wrote on his Web site Sunday: "This situation is my fault and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."
As for the rumors, including speculation that he and his wife may have had a physical altercation following a report published in the National Enquirer that he had an affair, Woods demurred. "This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way," he said. "Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible."
He continued: "The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false. "This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."
911 Call Revealed Meanwhile, the 911 tape of the crash has been released, revealing that Woods was found in front of his neighbors home, unconscious and outside of his car.
"I need an ambulance immediately, I have someone down in front of my house. They hit a pole," the male caller told dispatchers. Asked if it was a car accident, the man responded: "It's a car accident, yes."
The caller said Woods, who is not identified by name on the recording, was not trapped in the car. "They are laying on the ground now. My neighbor, he hit the tree. I see him and he's laying down," the caller said, adding: "I cant tell right now [if he's breathing].]"
In the background of the call, a woman is heard screaming, "What happened?" The caller responds, "We don't know what happened. We're trying to figure that out right now."

She's so courageous...she's the one that attacked him and ran after him with a golf club and smashed his windows etc.
This new story is all about them trying to cover up and squash the attention.

How fast was he driving 10 feet from his house? That tree was hit at a high rate of speed or cadalic's are made very poorly!

Re: Tiger Woods: Wife Elin 'Acted Courageously'
I'm thinking that maybe she was the one that was behind the wheel.
I read that his facial injuries happened the day before this event

I am hearing all different versions the newest one says both back windows were broken which makes me . Which sounds true if you look at the one pic where it clearly shows the back window broken on both sides. The front ones are intact and the doors look like they can be open. There is something amiss with this whole story. He had to take off at a high rate to do that much damage. Sounds like he was running.

Just a thought... a possibility.
Assuming he was speeding out of his property, the locks automatically engage on the doors. To get Tiger out, Elin possibly broke the window then to get to him rather than break his window and get glass on him.

Re: Tiger Woods: Wife Elin 'Acted Courageously'
And there's the possibility that most of it is bullsh*t and the Elin stories are outrageously false.
I don't think we're getting the whole story either but I think it's another example of people salivating about a bad situation for someone who has a good reputation.
The first thing I thought was that they had a fight, he threw it in drive all ****** off, stomped his foot on the gas and lost control of the vehicle. If he wasn't wearing his seat belt, it would explain the facial lacerations.
Maybe there's more to it but when I hear one supposedly valid news agency saying he's in "serious" condition and five minutes later another is saying he was released for minor injuries, I don't believe anyone.

While the gossip in me loves to speculate...I honestly feel soooo bad for these two. I think fame is evil. It's sad that this has to be such a big deal. It's a private matter and they want to keep their lives private...and that's the media for ya.
but I'll keep watching.

Re: Tiger Woods: Wife Elin 'Acted Courageously'
They are trying to keep it private because it would involve Elin being charged with Spousal Abuse! Just because it wasn't a man that did the battering the fact is SHE is the one that attacked him before the whole auto accident! I think this is why they wouldn't talk to the police! He does have facial lacerations that didn't happen in that vehicle.
We can't go around only crucifying Men when physical abuse happens. It doesn't matter what rumors are about whether he cheated or not! They want to arrest her for Domestic abuse!!!
She chased him that night with a golf club! There is no excuse for violence! He did the right thing, unlike Chris Brown, and tried to remove himself from the situation that obviously was escalating with her wielding a golf club!

Tiger Woods: Injuries Caused by Wife, Not SUV Posted Nov 28th 2009 12:08AM by TMZ Staff
Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren -- according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident.
Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.
We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.
We're told Woods became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.
We're also told Woods had said during the conversation Friday he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene.

Re: Tiger Woods: Wife Elin 'Acted Courageously'
I'm all for giving them their privacy and not speculating, but whether or not the rumors are true doesn't change the fact that HE'S REFUSING TO SPEAK TO THE POLICE despite their requests!
If this whole incident is so innocent, why not speak to the police so they can put this case to rest?? Whats the problem? There's something not right.
And how is it even acceptable for ANYONE to just refuse to speak to the police? The cops have reason to believe the accident had to do with domestic abuse and they have the right to investigate.
I feel bad for them that this is being made so public, but Phyl is right that domestic abuse by a woman needs to be dealt with as aggressively as it is when the woman is the one being abused.

I believe the airbags weren't set off so he must have been going about 30 mph.
The Escalade is a nice car on the inside but they do use a lot of plastic to create those curves on the exterior.

CNN said they were within their rights to not speak with the police because no criminal charges are being considered.
I assume Tiger isn't talking to protect his wife and because he doesn't want the whole world to know a girl beat him up

I agree with you, but it's not the fame that's evil, it's people's jealous need to see and create the downfall of the famous.

I said this to my husband the other day. The paper said that the State Troopers were enroute to speak with him and his AGENT called them and asked for them to give him another day. Why are celebrities above the law? (Or in this case worth BENDING the law for?) So if I do something wrong or questionable, and I have my AGENT call the cops and ask for more time to get my story straight that's fine?
Ridiculous if you ask me...

If he or she is not under arrest he or she does not have to talk to the police.. Maybe he felt really horrible immediately after this and didnt want to talk to the police. I dont think him being a celebrity has anything to do with it.. I believe that is his right
They must be so humiliated.. I feel so bad for them.
