tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
this morning i did a bunch of walking...and i started to feel a tightness/pressure in my lower abdomen...esp on the left side. I have been laying in bed trying to take it easy all day, but the tightness/pressure hasn't gone away. It is starting to freak me out. Is this a normal feeling (I am 14 1/2 weeks)??

Re: tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
Did you hydrate a lot today?
It's hard to realize it, but doing what you normally would do before getting pregnant, is not the same now. If you are doing a lot of walking...you MUST drink water like crazy. If you would have one bottle before, you need to drink 2 or 3 bottles now.
I've learned the hard way at some scary monitoring appointments that I can't just walk around like I would on a regular day, and not drink tons of water...because I wound up having tons of contractions the next day because of it.
You could be experiencing a bit of round ligament pain that is exaggerated because of all the walking. Get some rest, stay off your feet and drink water like a fish!

Re: tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
I had this last week (I'm 14 weeks now) and I did some googling and it sounded like it might be something called round ligament pain. As long as it seems to come and go and not consistent pain/cramps it should be ok. If you are concerned I would call your doctor

Re: tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
My doc said to call with any pressure type feelings.
I'm glad I did because it turned out my cervix shortened and I had to be put on bedrest for awhile. Taking the pressure off the bedrest let it lengthen now, thank God. (FYI... my pressure/shortened cervix followed having a UTI.)
I don't want to scare you... my pressure sounds like it was lower than yours, but I would definitely call your doc tomorrow just to make sure. Better safe than sorry! You may just need to take it easy. I know... it's hard to tell which pain is "normal" and which isn't, which is why it's always better to call.
Good luck!

Re: tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
I had a lot of wierd pains around that time, and still do (at 27 weeks) at times after walking for a while. Drink lots of water before, and after your work out. If you are walking for a long period of time, I would drink while walking as well. My rule of thumb is, if any pain continues after lying down for a while, then call your doctor. You have twins in there, soooo Im thinking it is round ligament pain. If your concerned then call your doctor, but im sure its fine! Feel better.

Re: tightness/pressure in lower abdomen
thanks ladies! i didn't drink enough water this morning so I have been trying to make up for it throughout the day. I am still having the pressure as of now so I am planning to see how i feel tomorrow and possibly call the doctor in the morning.
