Time-Outs and toddlers
Just wondering what you moms do when you would normally give your child a time-out, but say, you are out at a restaurant, someone's house visiting, or at the beach?!
Usually when we are home, if my 2 yo son does something that deserves a time-out, I will put my him in his crib for 2 minutes and it works like a charm, but I am stumped as to how I should disapline him when we are out! TIA!

Re: Time-Outs and toddlers
I can only tell you what my BF has done.
She was visiting with her 2 1/2 year old daughter this past January. Her daughter did something in my hallway (can't remember) and in a calm voice she said, "OK, time out right now". Meghan had to sit exactly where she was on the floor and there was not a peep out of her for X amount of time and no one was to engage her. She does the same at other's houses. I'm not sure how she modifies it for public places.
She mentioned to me that now that she is three, the length of her time out has increased.

Re: Time-Outs and toddlers
I'm lucky, son is too shy to make a scene in a public place. Of course he can be very rude when he is asked to say hello to people.
But my brother takes his boys to the car where they have a timeout. At two he would simply strap him in his car seat and sit not responding to him fro two min or until he calmed down. A stroller would work too, I suppose.
