Time to curtail dinner conversations
We're sitting at dinner tonight.
I ask how the kids' day went. Everyone had a great time.
Maddie asks "So, Daddy. Did you work today? Did you make any money?"
This is coming on the tail of my weekend explanation that Daddy was working overtime.
He explains that he was off today because he's on furlough.
Then Maddie turns to me & say with a very serious, worried look, "So Mommy, did you have to fire anyone today?"
(I'm in HR, we've had layoffs)
I said "No. Not today."
They actually cheered. Both of them. "Yeah! No one got fired today!"
Then she said "Will anyone get fired tomorrow?"
I said "No. No one is getting fired tomorrow."
More cheers. DH already calls me the Grim Reaper. Anyone sees me coming with a notepad into a meeting with them & they get worried.
So Maddie asks, "Will anyone get fired on Christmas?"
Joseph chimes in "No, of course not. She's off on Christmas because she's home with us. Everyone is safe from getting fired on Christmas."
I can't even imagine what they share with their teachers.

I dread knowing what info my kid goes to school with...
hopefully teachers will only believe 1/2 of what our kids say..

I just saw this thing on QVC not too long ago, The Family Dinner Box of Questions Game with Mini Take Out  Might be a good stocking stuffer!!

Just think it was only last week that Joseph explained to Maddie that "firing someone" has nothing to do with fire.  Can you imagine what she was thinking?

That's a good idea! Tonight's conversation covered how "Santa breaks into our house" since we lock the doors and how they think the Easter Bunny gets in because he has no magic like Santa

and in reference to imagine what they share in school.
on our orientation day with the teacher the 1st week of school, she said to all the parents
"YOOUUUU DONT Beleive Everything YOOU HEAR, and I wont believe everything I hear, DEAL ???????????"
