Tinkerbell (not mine)
Omg, im so upset right now.
about 2 months ago a Yorkie was found in a box in the park near us. someone cut off her feet.
BARC shelter took her in and kept her as her own.
We have no idea how she survived....
then i just went to their website and saw she passed.
i dont know why but i always thought about her.
im so upset.

Re: Tinkerbell (not mine)
heres her story:
Tinkerbell, a 15-year old yorkie, was brought to BARC by a good samaritan who found her cold and starving in a cardboard box in McCarren Park. Upon further inspection, we discovered that someone had cruelly cut off both her front paws at some point in the near past, leaving her unable to stand.
Weighing barely 2 pounds, matted and filthy, and so weak she couldn't even lift her head, this poor little dog was in a critical state, and BARC's staff was unsure whether she'd live through the night.
But survive she did, thanks to round-the-clock care and a fierce will to live. This indominable lady was christened Tinkerbell and was soon being showered with love and attention by BARC staff and volunteers alike.
And she responded affectionately to the attention and care she is receiving - grateful, we think, to finally be cared for humanely. She began to eat and drink heartily, regained strength and revealed a spit-fire personality.
No one who spent time with her will forget her stubborn streak. Intent on having her way, whether for food, water or attention, Tink would "talk", and even howl like a wolf, in order to get her way. She also loved to play, despite her age and disability. Even with out her front paws, she was able to "hop" around and play with other BARC animals.
Her celebrity quickly spread across the web, in newspapers and even on local TV (seen here with Fox Five's "Anne about Town). People from around the country and the world sent well-wishes and support for this little survivor.
Sadly, her rally was short-lived. Age and gradually failing health eventually overcame the indominable Tinkerbell.
On November 29, 2006, 11 months after she first made her first appearance at BARC Shelter, Tinkerbell, peacefully slipped away in her sleep after a hearty dinner.
All her friends at BARC are sad at her loss, but grateful that she was happy and loved in her last months.
