Tipping Newspaper delivery person?
I have a pre-paid 1 year deal with Newsday for delivery Wed-Sunday (Thank you Groupon!). I have been getting envelopes in my paper to give him a tip. He is providing me a service and I have no complaints. What do you think I should give him for a tip? How often? Do you think it's ok to send a personal check?
Thanks!

If you get the envelopes alot, I would do 5.00, or you can write one check for the year for 50.00. JMO

I tip him $10 every few months. Never the envelopes, I add it to the bill.

Re: Tipping Newspaper delivery person?
I do 5$ for the month. Whenever we tip we get the newspaper right up on our porch for the next week
That annoys me. It should be there all the time.

The reason I like using the carrier envelope is because I know they get it. Someone told me once they never got the tips when I was sending it in quarterly.

Re: Tipping Newspaper delivery person?
I send a check to the carrier for $8.00 every two months when I get the bill from Newday for the 2 month service, and I give an extra $10 at Christmas. Our carriers have always been good about getting the paper to us in any weather and it's always in the paperbox unless the snow is too deep to get to it, then it's in the driveway. Always well wrapped against inclement weather too. I'd hate to have to get up early every day to deliver papers and I appreciate that they get up to do it come rain, shine or snow.
