tips for going back to work?

I head back to work in one week. Is there anything I can do this coming week t omake the transition easier for my DD? She's 3 months and breastfed.

I'm getting nervous becasue this week she's been rejecting the bottle which she was doing so well with. I hope she'll take it when I'm not around.

Also, Breast feeding moms- any tips on pumping? How often do you pump at work?

TIA!!

Re: tips for going back to work?

I went back to work at 7 weeks. I have no advice on the transition back other than to just do it. I love my job so it wasn't too bad.

The pumping thing was a struggle at first for me since there was nowhere to pump but everyone was really supportive and now it's just a scheduled part of my day. I do work while pumping so I am more efficient now then before. But a lot of people know when I answer a page and they hear the hum of the pump what's going on Chat Icon I have to post some of the comments I get on here some day it's pretty funny.

I pump every 3 to 5 hours for 15-30 min.

ETA: I helps to plan ahead for disaster. I had a couple of times I got stuck at work and had to add a pumping session so I didn't feel uncomfortable. I keep extra stuff in my locker so I never had trouble.

Re: tips for going back to work?

I work p/t - but my dd is breastfed too...I am sure she will "get" bottles soon....have you tried a few kinds? (my dd hated the soothies, is "eh" about the avents and LOVES ventaires!) - maybe thats why!

I find pumping at work to be hard (I am a teacher, right now I sub in my old school dsitrict!) so its real hard to find places and time during preps and lunch (I often go to my car!) but it can be done....

remember the first time will prob be harder on you than her....our first day was! - samantha loved it and I cried more than she did....

she will adjust and so will you!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
