Tips/ Suggestions when stopping swaddling?

I woke up at 6am to find the Halo swaddle around my dd's neck and her sucking on her hand. I took off the swaddle and she slept until 8:45 so I think it is time to stop! She is 15 weeks and I have been trying to figure out when I was going to do this anyway. Sooooo the question is do you have any tips/suggestions to make this transition easier on us both tonight? Should I swaddle with hands out? Just put her in pj's? Any other ideas? I was going to not swaddle her at all today during the naps which I had been doing for a while and would only swaddle loosely when needed.

Thanks!!

Re: Tips/ Suggestions when stopping swaddling?

Well my son is 7 months and I still swaddle him, but with his arms out. I have tried to put him to bed without swaddling him and he wakes up. I think he likes his legs secure bc then he pounds his legs on the mattress if he is not swaddled. I would try it without swaddling and see how long she sleeps. If she sleeps the usual time than she is okay. Just put her in pajamas or maybe those pajama sacs. My doc says when they break free of the swaddle consistently then they no longer need to be swaddled. Hope that helps.

I swaddled with one arm out, then both, then no swaddle......he did wake more, but eventually figured it out and started sleeping better! shortly after that he figured out how to roll both ways and now just rolls onto his belly to sleep. GL!!!

I am in the same boat. DS is almost 6 months old and is starting to break out of his swaddle at night- he cries and it wakes him up.

Do the sleep sacks help at all?

We tried going cold turkey and that was a BIG mistake. So we started with one arm, then two arms, theb all out for naps.
When he slept for one week with no swaddle for naps we did the same for bedtime.
