TMI--Anal Fissures?
Sorry if this is TMI, from reading a lot of about these, it seems that people who are pregnant can get this sometimes, so i thought this would be he best place to ask
Has anyone had this? I beleive that is what I have, I am going to a specialist on Monday, but I am scared out of my mind..I hate doctors, and especially with body parts like that
I am just in soo soo much pain and pray to god that they can give me some good drugs, and make this better for me. I do not know how much longer I can take this pain. I am scared to do anything and my back is realy hurting so bad also, and my doctor who referred me said it can be a very painful thing, and could only give me some kind of suppositories. I am scared to move my bowels even, and he said that is common...

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
unfortunately i know all too well about this, and it can still happen after pregnancy too.
the suppositories should help. make sure you are drinking enough water and have enough fiber in your diet. it will make it a little bit easier.

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
YOU NEED TO DO A HIGH FIBER DIET AND YOU CAN ALSO TAKE COLACE IT SHOULD HELP ALOT FROM PASSING YOUR BOWELS.
I RECENTLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND I PURCHASED FROM HIM SOME KIND OF CREAM TO INSERT WHICH HELPED SO MUCH, B UT THE DOCTOR SAID IF TI DOESNT WORK THAT HE WILL DO BOTOX. I LAUGHED SO HARD BUT HE SAID THE BOTOX RELAXES THE MUSCLE AND IT HELPS.

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
I had one before I was pregnant. I had to go into the hospital where they closed it. They put some sort of zinc ointment on it to seal it back up. (It's a tear really) It can be very painful.
Definitely, take Collace it was a life saver. Drink lots of water eat bran. What ever you have to do to keep from having hard stool. Good Luck at the Doctors!

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
I suffer from this and have never been pregnant. A bath usually helps soothe the pain.

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
thaniks for all your helpful answers
I am scared to death to go to the doctors. I am also scared to death to sit on the toilet, scared to go to the bathroom, walk, sit, drive...
So, they can do something to help me with those muscles you think? I am scared to death to use them, so i feel like I am clenching all the time, but I really am not...
its the worst feeling in the world and I would never ever wish this on anyone in my life

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
I am soo sorry I feel your pain and have gone through and are still going through this ordeal with fissures. I've had mine since my daughters birth last May.
I was scared to death of the doc too, but def go, it won't be the first time he saw someone's coolie
First thing-DON"T CLENCH!! RELAX your muscles as much as possible-do breathing exercises, practice yoga breathing, the more you anticipate the pain and clench the WORSE it will be and you will TEAR it even more. IT DEF helps to DO warm/hot water sitz baths before/after a BM, it helps relax the muscle, if you dont' have a sitz bath, fill the bathtub water with hot/warm water just up to your coolie.
Now on to Diet-DRINK DRINK DRINK Your water! NO CAFFEINE! NO ARTIficial sweetners, I can't even drink coffee at all, it aggravates it. Beef aggravates it too. I take Benefiber every am and 2-3 stool softners a day(colace).
When they are really bad, I go on the butt diet i call it. YOu want your BM's to be the consistency of toothpaste. Eat lots of veggies, fruit, beans, high fiber foods, very little meat and bread. It will take about 3 days for it to set in, but believe me it works.
The doc will prob give you nitroglycerin cream or suppositories, I couldn't take it cause i was pg or bf'ing for the last 2 years. Usually the dose is for a week.
If it's an acute fissure you can def heal it with at home rememedies/cream, just remember, don't hold in your BM's, don't clench, and don't PUSH.
Even after the pain stops it takes a little while for the fissure to heal, about a month or two, so even after there's no pain you still have to be careful.
I am getting surgery for these su ckers after #2 is born cause i have had them wayyy too long.
PLEASE PLEASE FM me, I am the expert in these stupid painful things.

Re: TMI--Anal Fissures?
Im so sorry. It is the most painful thing I EVER had in my life.
I eventually had surgery last year after a few horrible years of pain.
I still take colace and senakot to help things along.
FM me if you need to talk about it more.
I know the pain and the embarassment and it was easy to get over once I just wanted them to FIX me. Those Drs are used to seeing it all.
See a colon and rectal surgeon, they know what they are doing.
