Re: TMI: Constipation question
Normal and probably not going to change. Sorry. Try drinking lots of water and eating high fiber foods like healthy cereals. I eat Raisin Bran, Grape Nuts, and cereal like that every day.

Re: TMI: Constipation question
You should take some colace (it's perfectly safe to take). I always get constipated when I'm pregnant. it's such a horrible feeling.

Yah I think my problem is I've been only eating bagels lately, which can't be helping!!!!

Re: TMI: Constipation question
I was constipated a little later on from about weeks 12-15. Then all of a sudden that went away............thank god!!!! Hopefully that little "gift" of pregnancy won't return!!

Re: TMI: Constipation question
Im constipated from pregnancy and I am also anemic so I am on iron supplements that, guess what, constipate you even more. I have been rather uncomfy for weeks and will start using Colace only when I am home. My commute is too unpredicatble for me to take it elsewhere.

Hey Goldi, have you taken colace before?
if you haven't, it's not those other laxatives that give you tummy pains and you want to explode. colace works as a stool softener and just regulates you.

Re: TMI: Constipation question
Can I buy colace at any drug store. My prenatals have stool softener in them, and I just started them yesterday and I think thats the cause of me being sooooo bowely (for lack of a better word) today

That is all I need. DH brought home PERI-Colace and that has a laxative - not a great idea for a gastric bypass patient. I KNOW a laxative is NOT good for me given my digestive issues. I simply do not have an hour to spend on the bowl at a time!

Re: TMI: Constipation question
oh yes! the best thing my doc told me to do is take one colace 2 times a day, and take fibercon once a day. this has worked Wonders for me. i usually just take one colace a day, and fibercon every other and it's been working.

The raisin bran definitely works. I prefer Kelloggs-I have had to eat it through my entire pregnancy.

Re: TMI: Constipation question
pre-pregnancy i would take benefiber chewables and they work pretty good and taste yummy too! Not sure if you can take those while pregnant. Try to include some more fruits and leafy greens.

Re: TMI: Constipation question
pre-pregnancy, I was very regular (we eat tons of veggies and fruits)
first 10 weeks of pregnancy, I was completely stuffed up I got rid of it the 'natural way'.....
two words for you: stewed prunes

Re: TMI: Constipation question
My iron pill, Ferro Sequel, has a stool softener in it and that has helped me a lot. Also try eating more fiber and fruit.
