TMI-postpartum intercourse question

I had a C-section 9 months ago, and my stuff is all messed up! Intercourse is painful, during and after. By painful, I mean that it feels dry and swollen, and I am throbbing for hours afterward. I don't get it....

I am sorry if this is TMI, but I am looking for advice to see if anyone has felt like this and found a solution. I guess I'm confused because I didn't deliver vaginally! Chat Icon

Re: TMI-postpartum intercourse question

Are you breastfeeding and or did you get your period back yet? My friend who also had twins (via c-section) has the same issue that both you and I do (I on the other hand had a vaginal delivery). I can tell you it has gotten better since my period returned full force and I completely weaned DS(around 1yo now). Till then it was almost not worth it for me to have sex because it was so uncomfortable (felt swollen/dry/and no amount of lube helped hehe). It really does stink, wish I had some advice to offer. I found the best lube (if there is such a thing) was a silicone based one
http://www.amazon.com/Pjur-Original-Bodyglide-250ml-bottle/dp/B000UASCLO/ref=sr_1_3?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1374782743&sr=1-3&keywords=eros+pjur

it helped the most, but still nothing helped as much as time and weaning!
Good luck.

TMI-postpartum intercourse question

Thanks for the advice, petvet. I was not able to continue BF, and I got AF 5-6 weeks later, which is when we began having sex again. I just thought that at the beginning, it was normal. I think after a few months, I figured this wasn't ok.

Re: TMI-postpartum intercourse question

I had a csection with my twins too and was surprised that sex was so painful afterwards! It felt like I was being stabbed with a knife on the inside. We waited about 2 months before we even attempted it at all. And I think it took three separate attempts (weeks apart too) before we were actually successful at it. Even then it wasn't very enjoyable for me for awhile. It eventually went back to the way it was but it definitely took awhile.

This! I stopped pumping at 6 months, and then I noticed at about 7-8 months stuff was reverting back to normal a bit more. Not to sound silly, but are there any other factors at play, like having to "rush" or anything like that? Personally in the beginning, when someone was crying, or you knew that was going to happen in like 4 minutes, it was just a disaster for me to try.

Thanks for the feedback! To answer your question, no there isn't any "rush" or anything different than the way it was before. We actually went through a "honeymoon" phase of sorts when we started doing it again, and i don't remember it being this painful. I am going to try the lube gel and see what happens before I talk to the Dr. about Estrogen. I just keep thinking haha, I am getting old!
