TMI warning: question for those that had vaginal delivery

Did you guys feel the actual stitching?

I am actual dreading this part of the delivery. I remember I felt them stitching me up with DD and I am soo not looking forward to this part at all!

Am the only one that actually felt it and dreading it?

I felt it...along with everything else Chat Icon. But for some reason, pushing the baby out didn't bother me nearly as much as the stitches. I kept yelling, um I feel that, I feel that, can you please numb it or something Chat Icon

No, not every woman gets stitches. Not every woman tears during the birth of her baby. I did though!

Re: TMI warning: question for those that had vaginal delivery

The stitching was WAY WORSE than the actual giving birth. I was just begging for it to be over. I'm hoping I won't need stitching this time around!

I honestly don't remember feeling them...I guess they numbed me up!

ETA: After reading all of these posts now, I'm wondering if it's more likely that I just blocked it out of my memory! lol

Hopefully you won't tear...

with my first I had an epi that did not last through the whole delivery and i felt contractions, crowning and all at the end...along with the stitches-they gave me the numbing shot b/c I asked for it although they said they would be done with the stitches before the numbing even kicked in(I only had 3 stitches-2 small 1st degree tears)

my 2nd...the epidural worked! I didn't tear...and my 2nd baby was 9lbs 9.5oz's, first was 8lb 4oz...2nd baby was pushed out in like 10 minutes compared to my first which was like 50

So I definitely had the whole 2nd childbirth is easier experience.

I didn't feel it because I was still numb from the epidural. So I lucked out, hopefully the same will happen again.

With ds#1 I know the dr. numbed me, she told me whe was giving me a shot. I didn't feel anything after that. My epidural didn't work with him and I felt everything up until that point.

With ds#2 I didn't feel any discomfort with the stitching. I'm not sure if I had any additonal numbing med's but my epidural worked like a dream so maybe I was still numb from that...?

Re: TMI warning: question for those that had vaginal delivery

I tore a little and got stitched after my VBAC. I remember my doc sticking me with the needle asking if I felt it. When I cringed and said yes, he then said he would numb the area and then I didn't feel anything.

Re: TMI warning: question for those that had vaginal delivery

I had an epi, and additional numbing meds before delivery because they knew they were going to use forceps
i tore, and they had to tear me as well, so i needed a lot of stitches
even with all that, the stitching up was highly uncomfortable but not overly painful, if that makes sense

Not really....I felt it for a sec and my dr. right away said do you feel anything and I said it was sore and he up'ed my epi and I went numb again and felt nothing.

I also told the girl to stitch it up tight!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
