To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
I need a little uplifting here and I'm hoping to hear some of your success stories. So there is a slight motility/morph problem with DH. I had my first IUI last weekend and the nurse basically told us it was going to be fail because most of them were not progressing and the post wash really beat them up. Our RE is wanting us to eventually do IVF (which terrifies me) GHI requires us to have 3 clomid IUI cycles before even being considered for IVF. The MF is so slight that he does not meet the requirements (pre wash) and I have no issues. I'm feeling pretty defeated and heart broken…I know it will happen..eventually…..We are just about at 2 years of trying…..I'm just so scared of IVF…so scared that it won't take…..and I keep hoping that maybe the next IUI his numbers will be better…….If you ladies have shared the same issues that we have now, sharing your positivity would be great appreciated

To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
Due to the severity of our MFI, we went right to IVF. It took 3 cycles, but we are now 16+ weeks pregnant. It is possible - do not give up hope.

To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
We went straight to IVF for DD due to the severity of our MF also. Got pregnant on our first shot. Then ended up getting pregnant shortly thereafter on our own but MC. Had 3 more pregnancies after that another one also on our own, one via a fresh cycle and one an FET. All ended in MCs but they are thinking either fluke or something wrong with me. Moral of the story is that MF is usually one of the "easier" IF issues to overcome. Your DHs issues don't sound that bad. Have you tried a vitamin regimen?

Re: To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
I'm surprised you're saying the MF is so slight but yet doc wants you to go to IVF? With sligh MF most docs tell you you can probably even get pg naturally. DH has MFI - low motility, morphology and count so we went straight to IVF. Two fresh and one frozen cycle failed. Currently 20 weeks with the second frozen cycle. So four cycles (and two different REs) in total.
eta our MFI is caused by Varicoceles

What is your DHs total washed count? If its under 5 million you would benefit from skipping iui and heading straight to ivf. My DHs counts were between 2-4 million. We had four failed IUis and conceived triplets out first ivf :) no need to be afraid! Ivf is not much worse than iui with injectibles and not nearly as invasive as what you will face with pregnancy, ha. Good luck!

Re: To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
total wash count I think if I'm reading correctly went from 11million to 7 million this last time. but then the motility dropped from 64% To 14% and then the progression dropped to 0,1 after wash with the total motile going down to only .49 post wash…..so the nurse explained that she would go ahead with the insemination, but it will fail due to the very low total motile/progression….His numbers are always different though!!! but this has been the lowest one as I now look at the papers…..well maybe next time will be better…We just do not meet the GHI criteria so we have to go through the motions I guess…..Thanks ladies…anything is possible….but sometimes things just take a little longer I guess……If the IUis don't take we have 3 (lifetime) IVF cycles that the insurance will cover….wish me luck….wishing you all the best!!

To all you ladies who's DH had MFI
I will say we reached a point where I thought there was pretty much no hope we would ever get pregnant. My DH's (frozen) sperm count is less than 500K and motility is 3% in our best vial and <1% in some of our other vials. It took us 36 cycles and 3 IVF cycles to get pregnant, but the take home message is that it is possible. Good Luck!

Definitely try some supplements. MrsDevito had an awesome list and two success stories. I have it bookmarked if you want

That would be great if you can send it over to me :) Thank you so much. I asked the nurse after this past IUI if there is anything that DH could do to improve the motility and see nicely said "no sweetheart, its just the way he is built" I hear all these stories about supplements but I just wonder why they don't recommend anything to us I even mentioned us going to acupuncture and she was like "well you can try it...but"
Science vs. Nature Eastern vs. Western medicine.....I guess my RE's office has different opinions on supplements/herbs/acupuncture....
