To alll the ladies who have struggled....
what really made it click for you?? I am very disappointed with my personal training results, they are not jump starting any weight loss. I feel as though I should go back to walking 4 miles a day but that stopped working for me too. What am I doing wrong??? I'm thinking I need more cardio....Please help!

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
my advice, be patient with the workouts. that happened to me when i first started working with a trainer and it was frustrating as anything butbut i stuck with it and all of a sudden it felt like it fell off. make sure your diet is healthy too!

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
I see a nutritionist, no white flour, I use brown sugar to sweeten instead of Splenda, because I was an addict, lots of veggies, some fruit, 1% milk (she told me now fat-free) and lots of water and exercise. Lean protein, fish and chicken and ground turkey....WHAT the heck else could I possibly do?

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
Here goes:
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday-work out with trainer for one hour doing various things. Revolving stairs for 10 minutes (warm up) and then balance ball work, standing push ups off the bar, and cables (no idea how much, just got a new trainer, only met with her three times so far). I usually finish up with about 15-20 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill for some more cardio.
I think she is still feeling me out. You get the idea..
Monday, Wednesday, Friday-I do cardio, usually one hour on elliptical, maybe split it with the arc trainer and/or revolving stairs.
Sundays-off

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
You may be doing too much cardio. Try some HIIT once or twice a week, and steady state cardio for other days so that you are only doing 3-4 days of cardio max.
Also, make sure your training with heavy weights (5-10 reps per set max). This will make your time at thr gym worth while.
Good luck!!

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
Also keep in mind since you just started...weight isnt going to bounce off that quick since you are also gaining muscle which weighs more than fat.
Give it time...results dont happen overnite.
Good Luck!

I started personal training six months ago and have only lost 7" and 3 lb. The only new thing is the trainer, third one in three months. They either leave the gym or don't show....I will definitely keep it up though!!

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
Did the nutritionist give you a target number for the amount of calories that you should be eating per day, based on how much you're working out?

It's somewhere around 2,000, sometimes a little less.

Ok, that's good.
If this new trainer has you continue to do stability exercises and stuff like that, but not any heavy weight training, ditch her. Stability exercises are good and all, but they're not going to help you lose weight. Heavy weight training combined with interval training (cardio such as HIIT) is what works the best, and fastest.

Re: To alll the ladies who have struggled....
When you say "heavy weight training", do you mean heavy weights or just alot of weight training in general? Heavy bulked me up, apparently my body makes muscle easily, just doesn't want to lose weight. I feel like ditching the gym altogether and just doing my four mile a day walk again

Do you do pilates? Pilates is AMAZING for just what you are complaining about. If you start doing it, you will notice results in 2 weeks.....I do it 3 times a week. I have the Winsor Pilates DVD's and I also take the pilates mat-based class at NYSC.
I know the public library has all these pilates DVD's if you wanted to try one before you purchase it.

Heavy weights/low reps. You should not get bulky - if have too much body fat, then you're building muscle under the fat, making you APPEAR bulky. If you get your body fat lower, you'll see that you really aren't that bulky. You also don't have to do heavy weights all the time; you can do days with lighter weights to vary your workouts. Don't give up! It's just a matter of trying different things and getting the combination that works for your body.
