To find a new job or not?
Background--- I am at 13 weeks and looking for a new job. I cannot STAND IT here. I am stuck doing admin work when I am a tech support person, and our a$$hole president probably will not give me a position I have been dying for which would give me security clearance (because he's a paranoid freak who doesn't trust anyone).
So do you think it's better to wait it out for 6 more months (dear god no!) or go ahead and find another job? If you got a new job while pg, were they very understanding?

Re: To find a new job or not?
I changed jobs at 14 weeks. I was upfront with the new company and made sure maternity leave and all my benefits were in writing (you won't be entitled to FMLA coverage.)

Re: To find a new job or not?
I don't get FMLA now (since our company is too small), so that's not a big deal I guess.

I don't get it where I am now either.
I was actively looking up to about a month ago. I was very particular about what I wanted to do, and never really got anywhere.
They way I figured it was, I don't have it SO bad here, although some days are awful. But every job has that, so why tread unknown waters now?
I have decided to wait until after the baby is born.

I think the hard part will be when you return after having the baby. You won't have been there long enough to earn the good will of your coworkers who are going to need to cover for you when the baby is sick or for all of the well visits to the doctor. I wouldn't worry about the maternity leave, I'd think about the flexibility you'd need to balance work and home...

I'm in the same position, so I decided to stay. But I do get FMLA, so I thought I'd suck it up. I quite enjoy getting hormonal on them for no reason though. It makes me feel better to be irrational.
