To go to fertility or not...
Ok, so we're on month 11 of trying now. I'm starting to think of going to fertility doctor. I just don't get it because we got pregnant with my DD the first month of trying. I'm not sure if I should start looking into fertility doctor yet, or waiting for a full year. My sister thinks I should wait til January because that's the month I got pregnant with my daughter and she thinks I'll get pregnant then...anybody else have theories on this...when should I make an appointment to see fertility. How long does it usually take to get an appointment?

Re: To go to fertility or not...
If you been trying for a year with no luck (11mos)...then it's time to see a fertility doctor(6months if you're over 35). It doesn't hurt to just schedule a consult. It doesn't take long to get a consult appointment but it also depends on the practice. They will discuss your medical history and run blood work on you and your DH. Hopefully from those results they can say what your issue may be (low ovarian reserve, sperm issues, etc). If those come back fine they may just order a sonogram with either saline or dye to get a peek of your reproductive system to see if there are polyps, fibroids, thin lining, etc.
From the very first time I called I had an appointment for a consult within 2 weeks, but I know my infertility issues so (tubal) a lot of the testing was not done into case.

Re: To go to fertility or not...
Honestly, it does not hurt to have a consult, and perhaps run a test to check if all your numbers are good.
Also, I find it very interesting that your sister said you will most likely concieve in January because of your first DC - a former coworker said the same thing to be a few weeks ago, that she had her son was born in July, and then three years she skipped two months so the next baby will not be born in around the same time. It ended up taking her a year and change, and her DD's bday is the same week as her son's. She read/heard that sometimes conception of some women are "seasonal" for lack of a better I guess... fingers crossed for you!!

Re: To go to fertility or not...
I was in the same boat as you, conceived pretty much immediately, young, healthy... But I wasn't comfortable with waiting it out.. I went to the RE after 7 mos of trying, now 4 mos later I'm still not pg (w/meds) so I'm glad I didn't waste time.
As for the seasonal aspect, DD was conceived in June, I tried that and it didn't work!
I am actually much more at ease now that I 'know' what is going on (or rather not going on) with my body!!

It usually takes a month to get an appt at an RE anyway, and at that point you'll have waited the full year. I'd see an RE sooner than later. It could be a very easy fix!

I went to a RE at a year. I also think it's funny your sister said that. I conceived my daughter in October 2010, I got pregnant October 2013 (ended in MC), here we are again Oct 2014 (still trying), I keep joking I am fertile in october so this must be my month haha. We shall see next week...

Re: To go to fertility or not...
You'll have a consult and discuss your plan. I would expect it will be at least a month before you start anything. So you can schedule your consult and still try on your own in January.

It can take a month or more to get an appointment. So if you want to wait until the year mark then call now and make an appointment and hopefully you won't need the appointment and can cancel it. If you do need it you can have them run some tests to see whats going on.
Personally I wish I would have went sooner. It takes time to get tests done and figure out a plan so its a good idea to just set up a consult and go from there.

My RE was in NYC so no. Try posting on the IF board and you will get more responses.
