To have Connor tested for Early Entry to Kindergarten next year...
is going to cost at least $675.00 to $1,000!!!
The public schools don't offer testing so you have to go through the Private Pyschologists. I can't believe the cost?
We want to get Connor tested because they keep changing the age cutoff date which used to be in October to now, 8/31. His birthday is 9/12. So for 12 days he's not going to lose out on a whole year. Of course we'll judge his skills/maturity, etc. But as of right now, we feel that he'll be more than ready by next year.
NC stinks for some things.

I wonder if you can do this in NY.... my 4 year old DD is beyond ready but misses the cutoff.
But the cost is outrageous.... $1000!!!

Honestly for a boy I would hold him back and not enroll him early.

Look into Hofstra University and the Saltzman center. They have Psych doctoral students work there and test to get expereince. they are supervised. DH had to work there while going to his Doctorate and I am pretty sure they charged much less
ETAI just realized you were iin NC
Is this just for Kindergarten screening??

Definitely look into having him tested at a University Clinic. Schools that have clinical psychology doctoral programs often have clinics where they see patients for both therapy and neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing. I am almost done with my doctorate in clinical psych and started my training at my school's clinic. I think they charged between $250-500. Testing can be very intense and time consuming which is why it is so expensive. I'd say a minimum of 5 hours for the psychologist doing the testing.
