To much for tile work?

We just got an estimate to tile our bathroom. We live in a one bedroom co-op apartment...our bathroom is standard size for a one bedroom apt. Not very large.

They gave us a price of $3,500 for labor and materials.

Do you think this is too much?

Keep in mind currently there are no tiles on the wall. The old tiles have been removed already.

My family says too much and Dh's family says its good Chat Icon Chat Icon I am so confused.

IMO that's a little high. I would get some more quotes before making a decision. Good Luck.

Re: To much for tile work?

When I redid my bathroom the tiles and grout alone cost almost $2,000 so I guess I would have to say it depends on the type of tile you are chosing. My bathroom is 5 x 8 and we only went half way up the walls, fully tiled the shower and fully tiled the floor.

It's just tile and grouting. Just the walls not the floors. Our bathroom is approx 5 x 8 and they only go about half way up the wall.

If they are only doing that much, IMO the price is too high.

Id also want to know how what kind of tiles they are using (how expensive) so you get an idea of what you're paying for labor alone.

Thanks!! We have a couple more guys coming this weekend to give us more estimates. Hopefully we can find a reasonable one. I just want this mess to be over...it's not so much the stress of living with no tiles and plastic tarp but the stress from my family constantly up our butts about it Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think that is pretty high as we are getting porcelain tiles for our kitchen, 280 sq. for $1,000.

Re: To much for tile work?

My friend does tile work and he charges $6-$7 per square foot for tiling the wall, you buy the tile, grout, adhesive, etc. Depending on your taste, you could get closeout wall tile for $1 per square foot or you could spend $10 per square foot.
