To prevent Stretch Marks?
Is anybody using any type of lotions or creams?
I asked my doctor and she pretty much told me there is nothing, its genetic! For some reason I don't believe her!
Anybody have any suggestions???

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
i use palmers cocoa butter in the AM and bio-oil at night. i've heard it's genetic too (my mom didnt get them so i wouldn't mind that to be true!) but i'm not taking any chances and my mom said she used cocoa butter religiously and seems to think that's why she didnt get them.

My mom didn't use anything and didn't get them. I only gained 3lbs during my pregnancy and have TERRIBLE stretch marks.

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
My mom didn't get them, but my sister got them during her eating disorder. So I'm sure if she can get them, I can. So even if it is a myth, I'm using Palmer's cocoa butter anyway.

I used this religiously and I still have a bunch of stretch marks! I had some before..so I know I get them...but these new ones appeared quite suddenly.

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
Ordinarily, I believe in scientific data. I have read that there is no help for stretch marks. But I no longer believe that. I use Dream Cream from Lush. DREAM CREAM
I started to use it a few months before pregnancy. I was using it for winter dryness anyway, so I used it where I get stretch marks, in hopes that it may help prevent more from showing. I already had terrible stretch marks from having abdominal surgery. To my surprise, my old stretch marks faded away. I have to really search to see what used to be like ugly stripes on my belly! I had them since 2003! Coincidence that they finally went away? Maybe, but I don't think so. I'm 23 weeks now and I hope this stuff keeps working!!!

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
My mom used nothing during her pregnancies and got very bad stretch marks. I was obsessed and used Queen Helene cocoa butter(in the jar-super cheap) and Palmers anti-itch oil at night and got no stretch marks.

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
Many years ago I was in a car accident and put on bedrest for months. Needless to say I put on weight. I have substantial stretch marks on my thighs as a result. I figure for me it's a lost cause.

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
I got one stretch mark so far, and ever since have been using bella mama belly butter and palmers cocoa butter lotion for the day, and then I use the bella mama oil at night.
I doubt it will do much, but I can hope...

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
Your Dr is right, it is genetic. However I used Palmer's to keep them from itching and burning. I did not get stretchmarks anywhere but around my belly ring. The lotion really helped it stay hydrated and soothed it in the last trimester.
The itching can make stretchmarks worse if you scratch them, so it definitely helps for that too.

Re: To prevent Stretch Marks?
I used vaseline cocoa butter-loved it b/c it didnt smell like normal cocoa butter cream (the palmers one made me nauseous) I didnt get stretch marks on my stomach or any new ones on my boobs much to my surprise (i thought i was prone to them b/c i have on my hips, breasts, and thighs from when i was younger) but i did get a couple new ones on my hips, my upper butt (so wierd) and some on one of my thighs, i really think its more a genetic thing but it cant hurt to lotion up and keep your skin hydrated

Unfortunately, she's right. My girlfriend never put any type of lotion on during her pregnancy and she was left with perfect skin, I put medela and palmers, etc... and I was left with a road map.
