Today is my last day of work (kinda pathetic but I need some hugs)

So, today I decided is going to be my last day of work. I'm 39 weeks, 2 days. I really really really really wanted to stick it out until I go into labor but I just can't. The subway is killing me. My legs are starting to give out on me when I stand and wait for the train....believe it or not I still don't always get a seat on the train which is torturous...and then I have to climb up at 4 flights of stairs to get up to the street and then another 4 blocks to my office.

Monday was the first day I really had trouble, yesterday was worse and today I barely made it. So I told them here that I have to listen to my body and that I'm done. The last thing I want to happen is to be stuck downtown when I start having contractions. And honestly, the thought of half the people I work with (who I can't stand) being in my face if I go into labor is enough to make lose it. So, i'm done.

I guess I just need some hugs because I feel like maybe I'm giving up...and the week is only 2 more days and maybe I should just suck it up...but I just can't. So I feel like a big baby, that's all.

39 weeks and 2 days is GREAT! There is nothing to be upset about, listening to your body is the best decision!

Don't feel bad at all. That's a lot! Thank goodness I work in Long Island and drive right to my office. I have to give it to pregnant women who commute to the city. That's a lot. Who wants to be stuck on a train or on a subway when it happens. Relax for yours and the baby's sake. Who knows... you may go any day now and you'll be happy you took the time to be at home. Relax and just prepare for the baby to come

Sounds like its time for some last minute "YOU" time.... try to enjoy the next few days.... Relax, finish up stuff in the house, take naps!!! Try and pamper yourself before your comes!!!

39 weeks on the subway is AMAZING. I only made it 14 weeks before I had to give up my city job.

You are not giving up, and I am just in awe of your stamina.

Thank you so much ladies.

I think I just put too much pressure on myself and feel like if I'm not in real pain, I should be going to work...but this time my legs won out and they said (in their own way) that I'm done. My body is just too tired to keep it all up. I went to sleep last night at 7:30!!!

My first project tomorrow while at home is to open up my breast pump and read the directions. I figure better to familiarize myself with it now while I have some quiet time.

you are doing what is best for your body, your mental well being and your baby. If you can no longer do this - it's your body's way of letting you know SOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You made it longer and farther than most women i know and you should stand tall and BE PROUD of yourself! Personally, I applaud you...(only after biffing you)..

Jesus effing Christ girl !! You are 39 weeks pregnant !! You're practically DELIVERING that baby on the subway by now !!!
Give youself a break !! You are NOT 'giving up' - and you're not a 'loser' - (You ARE however, slightly insane for thinking either of those things )
Go home, relax, and enjoy the few days of 'me' time you have left !!!

But say a prayer for me trekking across town while you're watching General Hospital !! I have 9 weeks to go

wow, Over 39 weeks with that commute, you should only be proud of your self. Your body said is enough and you are only listening to it.

Don't you dare feel that way!! I know how you feel and I am only 35 weeks. The commute is killing me. I work allllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way downtown and by the time I get to work I feel like crying!!!

you did good- made it a lot longer than i would have with a commute like that. kick up those achin' feet and relax before your little bundle gets here :)

no way...do NOT feel bad about this...you did amazing by making it this far!!! I have a commute by LIRR and subway and now at 19w I have NO IDEA how I am going to be make to 30 weeks never mind 39 weeks! you should be proud of yourself and even more proud that you knew to listen to your body when it's telling you to stop.
Enjoy your days at home before the baby comes and relax...you deserve it!

We are really all so proud of you and so thrilled that you will NOT have to deal with the pests at work and on the subway! What kind of a jerk doesn't give up their seat for a 35 week pregnant woman???????

Your decision was bold and completely necessary! Good for you! Enjoy relaxing these last couple of steps!
