Today is our first day with BarkBusters! UPDATE!
I am praying these people are the miracle makers they (and others) have claimed them to be.
My poor timid girl is <hopefully> going to learn how to be confidant!!!
I am praying that with this training I can finally walk her without worrying that she's going to attack another dog or tip the stroller. And maybe someday we can go to the dogpark and she'll actually enjoy it....
Update:
Well it was a learning experience for us. I am relieved that the trainer pointed out what a GOOD dog we have. He really picked out her strengths and showed us how to build on them.
Then we went for a walk . OF COURSE there was not ONE person out and about walking with their dog. He really needed to see Luna in action (she's dog aggressive during walks).
Thankfully, we DID come across a few willing owners eventually and he got to see the full effect of Luna's aggression. He was surprised considering how docile she'd been throughout the rest of the session. Using a training collar (looks like a choke chain, but with more material and less choke) she really did quite well walking nicely and we were even able to get her to ignore some of those other dogs.
He gave us the collar, some crazy sounding training bags to help with jumping up, and a water bottle to use during walks (to keep her focused on us when other dogs are around). Additionally, there will be follow up visits as well as invitations to bring Luna to his and his wife's house to socialize with their dogs.
She did really well today- I'm so proud of not only her, but us as well. We learned ALOT about dominance issues and the importance of making her follow the rules of the pecking order in our house.
All in all- it was a great experience and I look forward to continuing working with these trainers.
