Today was amazing.....(with an added bit)
I watched my SIL give birth to my nephew. It wasn't planned that I'd be there- it just kind of happend. We didn't think the *grandmothers* would make it- she went so quickly (they were flying in) so I drove to the hospital to be with her and my brother.
He was 2 weeks early and she pushed for less than an hour...... and she was so strong- and is now my new hero.
I can't believe I'm going to be doing the same thing in 8 weeks.
It was truly surreal.......
ETA:Just wanted to add- the grandmothers DID make it. They ran in 15 minutes before he was born.
My mother kept saying, "Amy, are you sure you want to watch this....?" But I couldn't imagine NOT watching. I pray my delivery goes as smoothly and I am as strong as she was.
As first-time mothers, we're all TOLD how hard it is to push that baby out and into our lives, but to see it done is truly a life-altering experience. Our husbands don't realize how lucky they are.....
For all the Jet Blue naysayers out there, they (the ground and flight crews) were WONDERFUL to my mom and brother's MIL and went above and beyond typical customer service.

I'm glad you were able to witness it. For me, seeing firsthand (& IRL) made my births a lot easier & less stressful.
I hope it did the same for you.
