Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
OK, so Bella is 2 years and 8 months now. We just went to her 2 and a half check up...
She is: 36 1/4 inches (officially three feet tall, she grew an inch and a half in 8 months) 30 lbs 12 oz (she gained just 12 oz, which is good according to doc)
75th percentile for both..
Eating habits: this child is always "very, very hungry" we do mostly 3 meal days with a small snack (pretzels, goldfish, etc) she doesn't really eat crap, but she is capable of eating two hot dogs, a full (like I eat) bowl of pasta, 6-7 chicken nuggets, four-five mini-waffles and fruit...if we let her. I am assuming this is OK because she is apparently running it off.
Bedtime: What was once a very ZEN (and unbelievable to most) experience has turned hellish as of late. She screams, cries, needs kisses and hugs, screams, and cries almost every night for 20 minutes before she is finally asleep. She still wakes up once or twice because of (and it better be because of) her molars that are still VERY, VERY slowly making an appearance.
Smarts: --Sings her ABCS clearly but is unsure of exact letters to "read" them --can count in english and spanish (dora related )up to 20, but starts repeating 16 after awhile. --loves to "read" her books and loves to make up stories. --Understands what a caterpillar is and that it turns into a butterfly. --Can rationalize that events happen the next day or happened in the past (which helps now) --gets that the doctor is a friend and "helps" him examine her. -obsessed with my boobies and nakedness (gonna have to explain body parts to her soon. she does know all of her body parts as well--I apparently hurt her "shoulder" the other day. --mimics our style of speak almost exactly (we need to talk, don't talk to me like that, you have to apologize) --is starting to attempt to dress herself. (which is hard.)
tantrums: --full fledged theatrical events the past couple of weeks. I try to ignore her the best I can but bloody hell it is hard.
allergies: diagnosed with environmental allergies and her and I share a similar regimen (daily pill and nasal steroid) doc says she is to be on that indefinitely because it is finally working...
SOOOOOO, how are all your kiddies doing, please share. I sometimes feel we are behind her intelligently and then perhaps overstating it...and then behind again. I also feel she eats like a pig but it's apparently fine... and finally, is everyone else being tortured at bedtime or with tantrums the size of the Titanic?? And who else has an almost three year old still teething in these damn 2 year molars???

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Girl, you know we live parallel lives.
I don't know her height. Weight is around 31lbs.
Eating habits: Alex has the appetite of a horse. Every five minutes she says I eat something. I eat snack. She'll say it even when she IS eating (whilst laughing though). We now have a rule - NO snacks 1.5 hours before lunch or dinner. Snacks now consist of dairy, fruit or veggies. No more useless snacking on goldfish.
And, I can tell now when she's not really hungry and it's just that she's tired or bored. I've been urging her to use her words. I'll tell her, no, Alex, I really don't think you're hungry, I think you're just bored. She's starting to get it.
With that said, she eats amazingly well. Her favorite meal is pita with falafel and hummus. She (amazingly enough) eats a Salad EVERYDAY for lunch with tahina. Her new favorite too is cottage cheese with tomatoes.
Bedtime. Is now a nightmare. She fights going to sleep, and because daddy taught her that she should get up out of bed and come to our room when she wakes up in the morning (just so he could sleep in a little more), she now figured out that she can do that any time of night. I have not slept in about a week.
Smarts: She knows her abc's She's starting to pick up on hebrew She remembers events from months ago She totally understands the concept of time She totally understands the concept of hurt feelings She shares. EVERYTHING. She laughs at jokes many adults don't understand She can read her picture books She makes up songs and stories Is also now obsessed with "private parts", most particularly, mine. Is 90% pottytrained
Tantrums You have not seen a tantrum until you've witnessed my child go through one. Last night's tantrum lasted for 45 minutes. Enough said.
Allergies None, but she was recently diagnosed with asthma.

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
My boys are 2 years 9 months.
Mattingly is 32 lbs and 36 inches and Joey is almost 27 lbs and 34.5 inches.
We have not been to the Dr's in a bit though, so not sure on the percentiles or exact measurements.
They are eating like animals. They would love to eat donuts and cake all day if we let them and Mattingly would eat an entire fruit salad in a sitting. They love to eat and won't share their food with anyone, they are very possessive, but want to share your food and will feed you your own food but reluctantly.
They are potty trained with no accidents in a about a week and we are so happy about that. They are not trained at night, but I doubt that will come anytime soon.
They are napping once a day for about 2.5 hours anywhere from 2 – 5:15. This was horrible for a while but has recently gotten much better since we removed everything from their room basically. There are days where the mattress is off the bed and they are jumping on the springs but they are not as often as they were a few months ago.
Bedtime is fine, we say good night and they might cry for a few minutes but are basically good with it, and fall asleep well. They are having occasional nightmares but they seem to have subsided significantly. They sleep from 8:30ish to 7:00.
They know some letters and some numbers and have been learning some songs. They sing more of each song they hear each time they hear it, which seems like they just started to do that, but have been making great strides with it. It also seems likes all of a sudden their speech exploded and there is nothing they can’t and don’t say.
They are fighting constantly and then a second later hugging and being great brother to each other. They are sharing better with each other, but still don't let others touch thier stuff without a eye roll or being annoyed about it. They are great with taking turns and letting thier brother do something first, etc. They also are each toher's biggest fan. When one goes on the potty the other one is happier for them, clapping and yelling it is so cute.
Their 2-year molars are still not in, and these seem to be the hardest teeth they have gotten. It seems like it has been on and off for a few months now, and they are still not there.
Tantrums are always fun – you never know what can set them off, but we are doing our best to ignore them and they tend to stop quickly. Just last night Mattingly lost it because he couldn’t hold the umbrella while going out to dinner, and then bam he snapped out of it and was laughing.

See, the thing with my kid, is she will NEVER snap out of a tantrum. Once it starts, and I choose to ignore it, it will literally last for upwards of an hour, sometimes more. I'm not kidding.

I forgot to mention the potty-training.
She is doing just OK with that...I KNOW she knows what it entails and how to do it, she just has no desire to poop on the potty, and will literally just pee herself if she is too busy to be bothered with the potty.

that's the new stage we are at. she gets herself so worked up, so crazy...that she can't calm herself down and we can't calm her down...and then a half hour later she will finally stop and just be done (like a split personality almost)
and it isn't just during a tantrum, the crazy one comes out at bedtime too...

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Katherine is 1 day older than Bella!
I have no idea of her height and weight--her visits are yearly now. She is recently starting to outgrow 2T though and is 50/50 with those and the 3Ts.
Eating habits? HA! She doesn't like much and doesn't eat a ton of what she does like either..."I full..." I don't stress it though. She could probably drink milk all day however!
Bedtime? She's an awesome sleeper. She takes an afternoon nap between 3:30 and 5pm. She procrastinates a LOT before bedtime, but is down by 8:30pm and wakes around 7:30am. Occasionally she shouts out, "My radio back on!!" or "Tie Ba's (her little lamb) tie!" when she should be sleeping.
Smarts? I think she's brilliant! She knows everybody's birthday (month); she knows everybody's favorite president. In case you're wondering, mine is FDR...not really, but I made it up for her sake She says she's voting for Obama! And she has her own favorite president (Harry Truman), chief justice (Earl Warren) and now secretary of the treasury (Alexander Hamilton). She counts to about 14 and to 10 in Spanish (again, thanks, Dora!). She can recognize any letter and knows what letter people's names start with. For ex. "Whose letter is B?" "Bob!"
Misc? She is very shy when around new people and it can take her anywhere from 30-60 min. to warm up, which I don't like because I'm very shy and I know how that feels. She is also very dramatic, which I am not, so it's a little aggravating She generally does not get along with her little sister, but the moments that she does are absolutely priceless!! And lastly, she's really looking forward to September when she's 3 and she can have her "Princess and Pooh Bear" party--what a combo!!

They used to alst longer, but we just kept ignoring it and they have toned down quite a bit. My husband also has a way of calming down my boys which is amazing, IMO.

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Jake is 2 years 10 mos (almost at the big THREE!)
Height - 37" at last check but he might be taller by now (his pants are starting to look short)
Weight - probably still 30lbs
Eating Habits: -still a fussy eater but when it's something he likes, he eats a ton of it lately; he's starting to try more new things with us and he loves going out to eat at restaurant (So happy we can do this again! ); staples are still rice, spaghetti & meatballs, pasta w/butter & parm; turkey meatballs; soup, fish sticks, PB & J, and of course - yogurt and whole wheat pancakes.
Bedtime: -Goes to bed 7:30-8pm and sleeps through but usually cries out for whatever or a special pillow or whatever approximately 20 mins after going down.
Smarts: - knows his alphabet; like "knows" the letters in caps and lowercase and says things like "Z is for zebra"
- knows all colors (primary and secondary) in spanish and in english
- knows a tons of shapes (like "parallelogram" - scary! )
-can count to 20 in english and spanish
- can actually count items up to 10 but once you get past five he can get confused and suddenly there's always 10 of everything If he asks for 3 pancakes for breakfast, I can't sneak by any more or any less.
- can do puzzles meant for ages 4 - 7 with no help (after the first time of course)
- pretend play is getting pretty involved
-gives mommy & daddy time outs if we deserve it
Tantrums: -probably MORE dramatic than they used to be but there are fewer and more short-lived
Potty Training: -approximately 90% potty trained
*raising hand* STILL waiting on 3 molars!!!

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Bryan is turning 3 in a month- omg!
anyhow, he is a big boy 38 inches around 35-38 lbs I thinkg not chubby though weight is evenly distributed- lol
eating habits: he is pretty picky when it comes to heathly things. he is basically on the pancakes and hotdog diet. but they say that he eats all his food at school (daycare) even the vegetables.
bedtime- well it used to be great until a couple of months ago when he got the stomach virus and puked in his crib now he refuses to sleep in his room, he cries bloody murder. We are cosleeping as of now and are working on his big boy room hoping that when thats done he will want to sleep on his own again. Although, I have to say cosleeping is not bad at all for us he sleeps much later and sounder than ever before and sodo Dh and I.
Smarts: Im amazed at him. His speech couldnt be better he uses all his pronouns correctly, no more baby talk He remembers things from months ago he totally seems to get the situation with my mom ( she passed away before he was born) he totally knows that he has a grandma in heaven and that she is an angel and was sick and had to leave .
he counts to 25 in english, 10 in spanish "reads" his books knows what he wants, when he wants and how many. He is very kind and compassionate towards others. he is a great sharer and he wont eat or play with something unless everyone has food or a toy.
AS of a few days ago he is starting to ge pee on the potty more regularly, no poop yet.

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Ry is just about 2yrs 8months...
He is about 28/29lbs and 36"
He is still a picky eater but I can finally say we eat about 3 meals a day. He eats pretty much anything and LOVES fruits and vegetables, he just has to be in the mood to eat-KWIM?
He can count to 10 in English and 5 in Spanish.
He knows his ABC's but often gets the middle a bit jumbled.
He knows all his colors, colors I didn't even know existed, haha.
He knows certain letters of the alphabet and can tell you what sound it makes. (Mommy "s" is for soda; "SSSSSSSSSSSSS")
Rj also knows all of his body parts, and just LOVES to be naked.
He is obsessed with hockey, football, trucks, tractors, dirt and farts. I have a TRUE BLUE BOY!!!!
We are about 80% potty trained, he still is weary of pooping on the potty, and gets easily distracted at times and has an accident. For the most part, he wears underwear all day.
As far as sleeping goes: Rj goes to bed between 730/8 and wakes about 6. He still naps everyday for about 2-3hrs. However (no flames, please) we are still co-sleeping. I often try to switch him after he has fallen asleep, but that ends in him crawling back to me a few hours later. I believe he will move when he is ready.
My son is quite the comedian, we love to laugh together. He gives me a new challenge each day, but he also makes each day that passes the best day of my life

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Miranda will be 3 in just about 4 months and when I needed it the least our terrible two's seem to have set in. She is really testing us and her independence. I'm sure it could be worse but when you're used to a docile go with the flow child you feel like the devil has suddenly possessed her.
She is about 24lbs and 34 1/2 inches. Still a peanut but she's still a VERY picky eater so that kind of goes hand in hand.
She is 100% potty trained. Well we still do pull ups for naps and bed time but I would say 90% of the time she does wake up dry. She asks for them so I guess its some kind of security blanket for her right now.
She speaks really well and we often forget she is only 2&1/2 when we talk her. She tries to repeat any new words she hears you say ( including stupid and idiot which DH loves to say when he's driving )
She can say her ABC's and count to 13. We haven't done anything Spanish with her though but Dora is her new love.
With the new baby coming in November we're looking to buy her big girl bed and make that transition over the summer.
She will be starting preschool 3 days a week at the end of August. I am really excited for her. I think she's going to really love it.
She's a great sleeper for the most part but she will wake up to go potty rather than pee in her pull up. I'm usually in bed so DH deals with it since he's still awake. She goes down about 8:30-9pm and sleeps about 12 hours. We are definitely not morning people here. That's why she's doing the afternoon session for preschool.
She is enjoying summer and playing in her little pool and having lots of time outdoors

She will if we put her down but she's fine without it so we just go with the flow. I will say though after 3 days of no naps we can tell she needs one so I don't think she is ready to completely be nap free. She has always been a long napper. She still does about 2-2&1/2 hours.

Re: Toddler 2 1/2 + check-in...
Alyson is 28 months old..
not sure of height and weight--no 2 1/2 yr check here. Last time she was 27 lbs.
Eating Habits: she's a little piglet...always eating something. Easily puts down a slice of pizza sometimes two, 2 hot dogs, TONS of fruit and if she's in the mood...will have 3 helpings of veggies. Tries almost everything. Drinks lots of water.
Bedtime: ugh...the worst! usually around 9pm. It's a whole cuddle, hugs, stauling thing....ugh. It's gotten better--she used to get out obed 4-7 times but lately she's been staying in bed and going to sleep after we lay her down and give her kisses. Been waking up 9-10am naps have been 2-3 hrs long recently
Smarts: knows most of her ABC's and recognizes some letters knows her 1,2,3's and can recognize some sings songs can read certain books via recognition (like Brown Bear Brown bear) understands listening/not listening knows manners for the most part knows parts of her body - knows all colors (primary and secondary)
- knows a tons of shapes
- knows some spanish words
can do puzzles
recognizes if things are similar--like if 2 outfits are the same color
- pretend play is getting pretty involved
Tantrums: usually it's when she doesn't want to do something---"I don't want to go to bed" and we've been dealing with ALOT of defiance and going back and forth between I want____ and then I don't want ___ (same thing)
Potty Training: -rare instances where she'll go pee pee but I think it's cuz she's lazy

Emma is 2 1/2
Height and Weight She's about 39" - I posted she was 42 another thread and when everyone was saying 36 -38 I looked at our hanging ruler and figured out it was wrong. She weighs 32lbs
Eating habits: Excellent eater for the things she can eat. And even better when I tell her no - that it will make her itchy. She is starting to understand her food allergies a little better.
Bedtime: Basically a nightmare. She will go down at 8:00pm - I have to sit with her until she falls asleep because she is suddenly afraid of everything. She wakes around 2 or 3 and comes into bed with us.
smarts: Her vocabulary is outstanding. Sometimes I forget that she is only 2. She knows and sings her ABC's. She can count to 20 in English and knows some Spanish. She knows all of her shapes
tantrums: --full fledged theatrical events the past couple of weeks. I try to ignore her the best I can but bloody hell it is hard.
Same here!!!
allergies: She has a host of food allergies and enviornmental allergies. We get thru each day as best we can.
