Usually lots of water and/or
Prune juice

Glycerin suppositories too if it is bad

My 3 1/2 year old had horrible constipation for about 6 months. On the recommendation of my pediatrician, we did use Miralax and it definitely helped. I would speak to your pediatrician about dosing. Although the bottle says not to use it for more than a week (I think), my doctor said that we could use it for longer than that as at the time of the problem, he was potty training and it was very important that the constipation did not impede his ability to do so. Now that the problem has basically resolved, we continue to give him Benefiber to help keep him regular.

when dd is having troubles I add a teaspoon of Prune juice to her morning milk and it makes a difference

DS gets "pellet poops" which the doc said is constipation. He's still in diapers (16 mos). The doc said 1 tablespoon of benefiber each day. I can tell the difference on days I forget or he doesn't finish the cup with the fiber in it. He does eat a lot of cheese and fruit.
