toddler bad breath-what to do?
He is 14 months and has had some horrible breath lately. It's just been since he got sick and isn't eating like he normally does. Should I start toothpaste? Chop up a tic-tac? (Joke)
TIA!!!!

Puffs work great with dd.. makes her breath smell fruity. I also brush her teeth with nonflouride baby toothpaste.. berry flavor.

Re: toddler bad breath-what to do?
I'd make sure he didnt have a red throat, bad breath is usually a sign of a sore throat.
If not, infant/toddler toothpaste

Re: toddler bad breath-what to do?
Bad Breathe in toddlers usually means a post nasal drip- the mucous hides behind the tonsilar pillar causing halitosis.
He is too young for any type of rinses, the only thing to do is use non fluoridated toothpaste with a flavor- and if you could try and brush his tongue.

He does have a sore throat. But I thought I couldn't do anything with that anyway, except Tylenol.

Bad breathe can be a sign of a stomach issue too. Also if it gets worse make sure he didn't stick any food up his nose. We have had a few toddlers do that at my day care and the Dr had to pull it out.

Re: toddler bad breath-what to do?
I have been using toothpast since around 7 months with Mikayla...it is not minty but definitely gets rid of the "baby breath"
