Toddler Bed v Twin Bed

Why did you choose one over the other?

how long does the toddler bed typically last?

TIA

It will depend if we are still in our current house - if we are, they will get toddler beds, if we move to a bigger house they will get twin beds and a set to match.

he's in a queen size bed. We have a small apt and bought it when I was preggo. I get so much company, that the bed made sense.

His crib mattress was really firm..too firm. I think he finds a real mattress so much more comfy.

We did the toddler bed because we have a convertible bed, so it was only a matter of pulling off the one side to go from crib to toddler bed. I wouldn't bother buying a separate toddler bed, however. If we had a dedicated crib, I would really think about just going to a twin bed.

For us, the toddler bed made the most sense. He went into it at 22 months because his sister came along, and space was an issue in his room (he ended up with the smallest room in the house).... He is almost 4, so he's been in it 2 years already. I would say he'll be in it at least until he's 5 before we upgrade his room to more little boy instead of toddler boy.

As far as transitions go, I don't buy into the fact its another "transition". It's all dependant on the child, my kids had no troubles going from the bassinet to crib to bed.

For my first dd we put her in a toddler first and then realized we should have just put her in the twin, since she outgrew the toddler bed pretty quickly. For my other two kiddos, we went straight to the twin beds. We started them out with the mattress on the floor and then put up the frame after about a month.

I am going to get a twin bed, I think a toddler bed will last for about 2 years, but I prefer a twin, and twin bedding is much cuter!

We are going to go right to the twin bed. We have one already, so it would be a waste for us to buy and toddler bed.
