Toddler boys--are jeans ok for dressy occassions?

We have a Christening party this Sunday. DS is wearing what he is wearing Thanksgiving. A button down striped shirt, cordory blazer and denim nice jeans. So, my question, is that ok for him to wear to a Christening? I figure he'll be running around with the other kids anyway. He'll be 2 in January. I tend to dress up myself a lot (I'll be wearing a dress probably)

Thanks!

There's a lot of nice and inexpensive khakis. For a Christening I would probably put him in something a little nicer than jeans. CP has some cute ones.

You can get khakis for less than $20. Personally I would put him in those vs jeans.

ok, well maybe I'll head to Carters on Saturday and get a pair of khakis then. I can get a pair under $10 there. Thanks

I think a nice pair of jeans with a button down and sweater is perfectly fine! I have dressed johnny so many times in jeans, but have "dressed it up" that he looks dressy enough. I think its fine!

I thought about having DS wear jeans to a Christening two weeks ago. I opted for courdoroys with a button down shirt and a sweater over it. I do think jeans would have been OK for a toddler to wear. DS is 3 1/2.

I always use a really nice pair of jeans (like Joe jeans or Lucky Brand) with a nice top - it looks great!

I always have DS in Jeans and a nice sweater for a special occasion. I think it looks dressy enough, if you put it with nice shoes and a button down shirt or sweater.

I'm not a fan of jeans for nice occasions (depending on where the party is they might not be allowed - i.e. private clubs etc). I think the outfit sounds nice - but maybe with Khakis or other pairs of slacks instead.

Re: Toddler boys--are jeans ok for dressy occassions?

Depends.

Last Christmas I had DS in Jeans. But with red converse type shoes. A button down shirt and a stripped "dressier" vest. Then that's kind of dressy casual look.

But Jeans with a sweater. That's too casual.

Depends on the venue too. At a restaurant? At home?

I NEVER put my DS in khakis or colored Dockers or Slacks. He always wears jeans and if he needs to be dressy I just make sure he has a dressy shirt and make him look neat.

I don't really put the boys in jeans for semi-formal or formal parties. JMHO.

Re: Toddler boys--are jeans ok for dressy occassions?

I think jeans are fine. For an event like that I might buy a really nice pair of designer jeans but I can justify that even more than I could justify buying pants for $20 knowing that he won't wear them again.

thanks everyone. Jeans it is. FYI, I never said anything about a sweater. He will be wearing a button down dress shirt and a blazer. Its at a VFW kind of place (not a country club).

It will be fine! Add some shoes vs sneakers and you are all set.
