Toddler BTDT mommys..

Aside from the NO! and No- its MINE stage, what is the next stage I have to look foward to?? Figured I'd ask to at least get a heads up on what's in front of me.. baby #2 is due the end of Feb, and my son (will be 3 in March) never ceases to amaze me!!!

TIA

Re: Toddler BTDT mommys..

My daughter is also 15 months and I swear the terrible 2's hit early in our house. If we tell our daughter "no" or take away something she shouldn't be playing with she goes into a full-blown temper tantrum complete with her face turning red, falling to the ground and banging her head and pulling her hair (all while looking at us to make sure we notice)Chat Icon

She also hates being in the sroller now and wants to run around the stores and tried to climb out of her carriage-oh Christmas shopping is going to be sooo much fun this yearChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Toddler BTDT mommys..

I was lucky my son went through a period of biting jsut for a month or two MAX.... My dh bit himback.. not hard, but enought to show him that it was not as funny as my son thought it was!! I thought he was barbaric, until my son bit me on my boob! It was the upper part but still rather fleshy.. OMG I thought I would die.. I pretended to bite him, and it stopped! Guess he was intimidated enough--Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Have you passed the "I do it myself" - where they throw themselves on the floor if you dare shut the fridge when they wanted to, turn off a light, open a door...?

I read a pretty good article on the stages where

0-1 - getting needs met, physical development, non-verbal communication, starting verbal
1-2 - verbal communication, walking, runnig
2-3 - independence
2-3 - relating to the world around them, dangers
3-4 - managing their emotions, social development

Re: Toddler BTDT mommys..

My son was 3 in October and we are in the defiant stage. I suppose its "independence plus" and even more draining than the terrible twos IMO. But he's been getting better about stuff lately and listening more. Not always but more than a few months ago.

Re: Toddler BTDT mommys..

How about the high pitch scream/ temper tantrum when they have to have something their way. Or when that frustration hits and things start flying across the room. Or do I just have an untamed lion!

Re: Toddler BTDT mommys..

Oh if marissa doesn't get her way she throws herself on the floor and cries basically wines. She doesn't want to sit in the stroller after a while and whe n I let her out she runs like a maniac won't hold your hand and wants to go where she wasnts to go. She is starting to bite I think I am going to have to bite her back like herewegoagain said that might help. I will let you know. Last nite at dinner she wanted to feed herself with the fork so I gave it to her and it was all over the place but wouldn't let anyone feed her what a mess. Guess we are in for alot more of thisChat Icon Chat Icon

Ahh yes the independence stage and this one are what we are creeping into now. My son needs to turn on EVERY light in the house and DARE I turn it off.. All He!! breaks loose! The worst is my DH taught my son how to access my computer-- He set up his own screen so ONLY pbskids.org and the wiggles, Jay jay the jet plane and whatever site Dora and Little einsteins are on-come up..

DH also set up the computer to go through my TVS surround sound, so I have been listening to these programs on the COMPUTER in SURROUND sound for almost THREE WEEKS now!~~~Chat Icon And again, dare I turn it off... My son begins to screech.. "NO--ITS miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine....
I want greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen (the tv turns green on the computer setting)

Then If I try to actually WATCH tv while he is playing if he doesnt catch that I changed it off right away, he walks over to the TV and puts his hand on the button to change it and when I open my mouth to tell him no, he pus up his hand, and shakes his pointer sideways at mea nd wrinkles his eyebrows and says," uh-uh-uh, itz MY turn!!!"
