Toddler field trips - 1.4 mile walk???

Toddler field trips - 1.4 mile walk???
We get a calendar at the begining of the month saying they are hoping to have field trips soon.
Friday when I go to pick up ds there is a permission slip... for a field trip on Monday.
So I ask how are they getting there? " walking . There is a backway to walk through the sidestreets instead of the main road". I don't recall them having strollers for 12 toddlers so I think the kids are actually walking, and I just googled it... its almost 1 1/2 miles....
Is this normal?

How old are the children? How are they transporting them to this walk? Or is it just a walk?

The kids are 2 -3 y.o - 12 of them.
its a 1.4 mile walk(for the kids and teachers) to the craft place, and the same 1.4 mile walk back to the center afterwards.

Are you sure they aren't taking a few of the stroller buggies? I know each one can hold up to 6 kids.....

Seems like a long walk to me, hopefully they're taking strollers...I'd ask.
Though if you put a pedometer on an active toddler in a given busy day, I bet they walk close to that (maybe!) since they're always on the move!
But it still sounds like a lot to me!
