Toddler Friendly Restaurant Recommendations
Hello, We have toddler twins and enjoy going out to eat with them. We have been frequenting a local Ruby Tuesdays because they are very accommodating and the price is right, just in case a tantrum breaks out. However, we are getting tired of the menu and are ready to take the next step into nicer dining with the kids. We are looking for reasonably priced nice restaurants that are accommodating to children. My husband & I are foodies that used to be in the business. We know good food & good service. Preferably in Nassau or Western Suffolk. What do you suggest? Thank you in advance.

Cheesecake Factory? If you go early enough you can get in and out pretty quickly. Their food usually comes out real fast. ETA: also the restaurant is usually pretty loud so if a tantrum breaks out not a lot of people will hear it.

Hmm... What about outback? I am assuming you are still trying to keep it a little low key (not quite fine dining)

You would be surprised at how kid friendly a lot of restaurants are. Dd goes with us everywhere. Nice restaurants included.
Just last night we went to Besito and before we were even settled in our table with menus they came over with cut up avocado and bananas for dd.

Walt Whitman
I also had a bad experience at the Westbury one years ago and stopped going. Now I go to either Walt Whitman or Lake Grove and have NEVER had a bad experience. We go often and everything is always awesome and it's perfect with kids.

We take my 4 1/2 month old son everywhere. I really like Millers ale house because the menu is varied, the booths are big and it's always noisy so there is no worries about causing a disruption.
Kids Eat free on tuesdays and they have a balloon twister.

I find most places are accomodating...we went to Zinburger in Walt Whitman mall recently and loved it!!! Good food, fast service and its a wine bar too :) I wouldn't go to a place where I know the service is slow - but other than that we pretty much go anywhere. I figure if there's a kids menu it should be ok.

I was just about to suggest Zinburger. They have awesome burgers and the wine is a huge bonus. They are also super kid friendly. It's basically a "fancy" burger place. We're not usually burger people but we love it.

We had a nice time at Cafe Formaggio. We brought our 3 month there & they set up the high chair. Other babies were in the restaurant as well.

Re: Toddler Friendly Restaurant Recommendations
DS is 17 months old and we take him everywhere. We tend to go on off hours if it's a "nicer" restaurant, like for a family birthday, so that we beat the crowds. But otherwise, we don't even think twice about it. If he's loud and screams, we just take him outside for a break or walk around the restaurant.

I have 3- 4, 2.5 and 10m and we take them anywhere we want to go. I will say, however, that we have pretty low key tastes. lol

Re: Toddler Friendly Restaurant Recommendations
Gemelli's in Babylon village was VERY accommodating when we ate there with my son (3.5 years old) and nephew (2.5 years old) and my youngest son (4 months) i think they key is not to go late saturday or friday night when they are still on the slower side of business
pretty much any place in babylon village has been accomidating to my kids when we go out.... Mulburry Street is another great restaurant in babylon... along with post office cafe!
i also love The Bulldog in Amytiville

We would take my DS everywhere. The best thing to do is go at off times...during the week, early dinner. We never had any problems, even if he started getting loud.

We take out DD to Grillfire in Merrick, and if you go early, there are a lot of families. We really take her everywhere though. She's not great at sitting at meals, so we take breaks, walk around, etc.

Tomo in Huntington Village----hibachi---will keep them occupied.
Cheesecake Factory in WW mall is great. They give my kids little "appetizer" plates with banana slices and bread/ butter.
Chili's is good. I get the kids chips and salsa and that keeps them occupied.
Other chains, Outback, Fridays, Johnny Rockets, are all easy too.

The basil leaf cafe in locust valley is very accommodating to young children. I have taken my kids there since they were 4 months old. The food is outstanding too.

Re: Toddler Friendly Restaurant Recommendations
I like Greek restaurants, outback, Italian, and sushi places with kids... But have been everywhere (including some very fancy NYC places).
Key to happiness is to get there at 5:30, eat for around an hour max (2 hours is too much for kids, so skip appetizers), and have a back up plan for hysterics (right now, we use cell phones with apps when hell breaks lose).
Tip heavily & you will be welcomed with smiles when you return.
We have had many nice comments about our kids in restaurants.
Funny about the children's menu: we usually get the kids to split a normal plate! Most of the restaurants we go to do not have a kids menu.
