Toddler Mommies I need help
How do you get a 2.8 year old to go to sleep in her bed when she constantly gets up, opens her bedroom door and goes into your room. She will not go to sleep in her bed!!! I need help because i am starting to lose my mind!

Re: Toddler Mommies I need help
We put the baby proof doornobs on the inside of their room so they can't open the door.

Re: Toddler Mommies I need help
First, I just refuse to let her into bed with me. Everytime she wakes up and runs into our room (i.e. last night, I woke up to a little doe-eyed Alex asking to come into bed at 3am), I bring her back into her room and put her in her bed. I've spent some time last night explaining to her that she cannot come to mommy and daddy's bed at night when it is still dark, only when it's light outside.
I think *maybe* it got through to her, a little. She woke up, running into our room saying "it's light outside I can come to mommy and daddy's bed!"

Re: Toddler Mommies I need help
Ella's only been in her bed a week, but we have a gate at the door. A few times she's gone to the gate and called to me, but I bring her right back to bed and explain that there's no getting out of bed until morning.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
She hasn't (yet) woken up during the night - this is just right after I put her to bed.

You just have to continue to keep putting her in her bed every time she gets out. Even if it takes 943759845 times to do it, you have to. By you giving in, she knows that she can get away with it and just end up in mommy's bed either way.

Re: Toddler Mommies I need help
We close thier door and there is a child proof knob on it. After we go to bed we open the door so they can come and get us if needed. If they wake up and come in our room they go right back into bed and if they stand and the door and cry, so be it. Coming into our bed is not an option, there are already 2 audlts and 2 dogs in our bed, I don't want 2 kids in there too, LOL.

Re: Toddler Mommies I need help
We put a gate in the door frame of the room. He could open the door, but not get past the gate. There were nights he'd stand at the gate calling for us, but if we could ignore him, we did. If he cried, we went to him and got him back into bed and told him it was night time. After several months, we took the gate down and it was like magic - if he got out of bed, he would go to the door, open it and stand there calling us (like the gate was still there!).
