But at daycare I see a toddler..maybe 2 or 3 years old iGetting picked up in a jeep wrangler with top and all windows off.
Would you or wouldn't you???Chat Icon Im not sure... my first thought is.. all that wind!! I hate hate hate sitting in it b/c of all the wind and noise.. not to mention the safety issue..

wwyd? Yay or Nay.. if Nay.. what age would you let them go in it?Chat Icon

I wouldnt, it personally makes me nervous. Convertibles in general make me nervous, kids or not.

I wouldn't just because I have always been afraid if you flip over you are up the creek without a paddle. Plus the wind, noise, & the worst BUGSChat Icon

Not sure yet...I know my dh really wants to take our DD out in one but I don't know what age I will allow it.

We have a jeep wrangler also. My DH will take the the driver and passenger doors off but leave the other 2 on and then take the front top panels off. The kids love going in it and actually like the wind. If you keep the trunk window up the wind goes right through and its not in your face like you would think. I personally don't like it because I get a chill so fast so I end up putting the heat onChat Icon . My two are 3 & 4. I am not sure I would be ok with it under 2.

I'm too paranoid about cars so that would be a big fat Nay for me!

It's not for me.

Then again, I know someone from highschool that was decapitated when his Jeep flipped so I may be bias.

edited to add...

Knowing toddlers, I wouldn't be comfortable in a convertible unless they were in a strait jacket. I've had my kids unbuckle their seatbelt while I was driving.

Nay for me. But that's also because I would feel uncomfortable riding in something like that even without kids.

If I was comfortable with driving in one, then maybe once the kids are out of the booster seats. Maybe. (How old is that anyway?)

I think I probably would be ok with it. If just the soft top was on it's not like it really provides anymore protection.

8's a good age. I think of my niece and nephews when they were 8. They would think something like that was cool.

DH had a convertible with his oldest daughter and always drove her with the top down. So does my cousin's husband. I see nothing wrong with it....

ETA - Our Shelter Island car is a VW bug and we always drive Cai around with the top down - he loves it!!!!!

Re: Toddlers and convertibles?? What do you think...possible judgement thread...

for me I wouldn't do it, for the risk of rollover.

however, my nephew has been in my FIL's 2 seater convertible (yes in the front seat) since about 1 1/2 years old.

For us we wouldn't put our child in there and while i wouldn't do it, i try not to judge too much the other people who do. We just let my DH's family know that what may be ok with one grandchild, is not going to be ok with our children and they seem to respect our wishes for the most part.
