Toddlers and nightmares - what age?
If your toddler gets nightmares, what age did they start? I think my DS is getting them and he's 20 months. At this point, he does not have enough language to communicate with us that this is the issue.
Here is why I think nightmares are the issue. DS is a bad sleeper, but usually when he wakes up, he whines for me to come get him (laying down) and he nurses for 5-10 mins and goes immediately back to sleep. Now, he is screaming and crying and standing up. He also does not settle when I nurse him and can take 30-60 minutes to go back down.

My DD had night terrors at that age. She would get very upset and not be able to really communicate anything and almost like she was asleep with her eyes open. It usually took a while to settle her back down from this. She is three now and they stopped a while back - it was just a phase that went away as she got older.

Sounds like sleep regression.

Toddlers and nightmares - what age?
My ds just turned 2 and there are times where he will suddenly wake up screaming, nothing calms him down and i cant figure out whats wrong. I blame it on bad dreams but then again at that age what could they be dreaming bad about? He dont know about monsters or anything. I figure hes probably dreaming about me leaving him since he has bad seperation anxiety from me.

Thanks everyone! He had 3-4 bad nights and now his sleep has gone back to normal - just one brief wake up per night. I really wish I could get him to STTN again - looks like I might need to do CIO in the near future. Nightmares, teething, illness - ugh!

I wouldn't CIO for nightmares. They are scared and need the comfort. Its totally different then just waking up to wake up, IMO.
