Tomorrow is Admin Professionals Day (Secretaries' Day)...need gift ideas!
just realized tomorrow is secretary's day and I havent gotten my awesome secretary a gift (work in a law firm)..
any ideas on what I can get her? She is a married woman in mid 50s, has 2 college aged kids, and seems the homebody type..

As an Admin Assist I am hoping for gift cards this year but I am sure I will get the normal flowers which will bother my allergies.
Please dont get her flowers. 
This is what I would like if I was asked:
Gift cards
Take her to lunch
Bottle of wine
GC for lunch at a nearby Diner/Restaurant
Sent home early

good ideas! thanks! Thing is, my office is already having a catered affair for the entire support staff - so taking her to lunch is already done..I want to get her a more personalized gift..last year I did Gift Cards and dont want to be so predictable this year...lol

Wow, you are so sweet!!! I support 22 people and I NEVER get anything. Hell, my boss and coworkers never even acknowledge my birthday!  I also never say when it is, but they should know by now.
No ideas on a gift, just wanted to say how great that is that you want to do something!

I got an itunes gift card, box of chocolate, gc to macys so far.
That's from other people that I don't support.
My boss never comes up with this stuff. She is too busy. I took care of the other admins on my floor for the COO while he is away.

As a former admin asst on many levels, nothing beats cold hard $$$$. If actual cash is frowned upon in your industry then get an amex or visa gift card which is more or less cash in a different form. Money is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS appreciated and one size fits all! 
Flowers....yes they're pretty, but they take up space on my desk and they're yet another thing *I* have to take care of. If you know for a fact that your admin loves/shops at a particular store or eats at a certain place then a gift card there is great too. Also, taking them to lunch....honestly, I worked for some people I truly loved, but if the day is about your admin, take whatever you would have spent on a lunch/dinner for the two of you and get an amex/visa gift card.
