Tomorrow is MIakayla's first day at daycare
My IL's cannot watch Mikayla tomorrow so she will be going to backup daycare for the day. This is the FIRST time she has been at daycare. I am so nervous. I went to the daycare and met the teachers and they got to meet Mikayla. They seem nice but I am still freaking out, any words of wisdom of how I will make it through the day?
What if she freaks when I leave her? OMG, I think I will lose it, she never cries when I leave her at the IL's but if I leave her with strangers.....oh no !!!
I think I may seriously have a panic attack

Re: Tomorrow is MIakayla's first day at daycare
Ok breathe. I know I remember how hard it was to drop my DD off at the daycare the first time. But remind yourself that, even if she cries when you first leave her (prepare yourself for it happening before hand, since she doesn't really know them she will probably cry), she will most likely stop within a few minutes. And remember there will be so many new people, toys, and other things for her to see that she will probably be distracted all day and will most likely enjoy herself.
Also just keep thinking about how when you pick her up she will be so happy to see her mommy!
ETA: if she is crying when you drop her off, I would suggest asking the teacher if there is a good time for you to call half way through the day, then you can check up on her to see if she's been crying, how she's eating, if she's interacting with the other kids, etc.

Re: Tomorrow is Mikayla's first day at daycare
The first day is the hardest but remember that she takes her cues from you. Smile the entire time and hopefully that will help her. I cried when I left the room...Lucas had a hard first few days but he came around. The first day he wouldn't let anyone hold him and spent most of it in the swing looking out the window.
When DH and I drove away we saw him swinging staring out the window. DH asked me what I thought Lucas must be thinking and smarta$$ me responded "car, car, car"
hang in there!

Great advice, thanks. I will try to smile and not show her that I am upset when I leave

Re: Tomorrow is MIakayla's first day at daycare
cailen was so young when he started daycare that he never had that anxiety when I left him, but I wil tell you this - if Mikayla is anywhere near the attention whore that Cailen is, she will L-O-V-E it - daycare is nonstop attention, fun, and playing. The staff dont have to do dishes, laundry, talk on the phone, etc. Their job is to watch her, play with her, and make her happy. Even if they have to care for another baby, all she has to do is cry, and they are right over cheering her up and making her happy. Cailen is a friggin spoiled brat because of daycare... but I know he loves it. He gets so excited and happy when I take him out of his car seat in the parking lot....
She may get upset seeing you leave, and your heart will break in a million pieces, but I guarantee this - when you pick her up, you will see she has a smile on her face.
Plus, nothing compares to the joy of her seeing you again at the end of the day!!!
Good luck!
