I am the same way as you and I could not go alone. I would take someone with you if you can. I hate when they get the shots Good Luck

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes
Depends on your child. My daughter is quite intense -- so when she got her shots, the crying wasn't that out of the ordinary. In fact, she occassionally cries worse during a diaper change if she'd rather be eating. So, for me the shots weren't that big of a deal.
Regardless, I think you can handle this!

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes
I was the same way with my son...
I had to go alone.. I knew that this would be the first of many trips to the DR for shots, and if I didnt do it the first time, I was petrified I would have o have someone come with me all the other times too.. lol...
I ended up crying after we were back in the car and he passed out inthe carseat, and I called my mom, and was like, "I was strong for him, and he did so good". LOL.. I didnt do as well, but it helped me get over it a little quicker. You can do it. Just sit/ lean on the table in the room. Its VERY quick.

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes
For Cassidy's first shots, DH came with me, and I think he cried more than she did
From then on, I go alone. I know with Cass, she cries for about 30 seconds, and then she's fine.
Good luck

When Cassidy got her 1st shots she was alittle cranky for the rest of the day. Tylenol really helped. Ask your ped. what they recommend for you to do.

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes( one more question at bottom)
When Jake got his 1st shots, my husband came with me and I cried when it happened. Jake cried for a few minutes and then he was fine. He didn't sleep all day after that, he pretty much acted normal. I gave him a shot of tylenol and he was fine.
I have to actually say now that he is a year, going to the doctor is much worse. He screams as soon as the doctor walks through the door.

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes( one more question at bottom)
I went alone and sammy cried as did I but you will see it only lasts a minute. ONe thing I do recommend though BUT ask your doctor. I always give Sammy a dose of tylenol with shots because some can cause a fever. I give one with shot then one four hours later and time permitting before he went to sleep or in the morning,
The shot hurts us more then its hurts the baby dont worry

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes( one more question at bottom)
I went with my DH and I didn't cry (I guess I don't have a heart...JK ). He only cried for a little bit. The doctor had me hold Jared while he gave him the shot so I could comfort him. When he was in his carseat he fell asleep. He didn't go to bed that night or the next night until 1am. He had a slight fever and bad diarrhea.
Then every month after that he's been getting shots and he takes them like a champ...hardly cries and doesn't get sick anymore.
Good Luck!
Edited to say...now I go alone with Jared...it gets easier each month.

Re: Tomorrow Ryan goes( one more question at bottom)
When my sister had her babies, the Dr. would not have her hold the baby while the shot was given. He said that way the baby didn't associate Mommy with hurting him/her or allowing him/her to be hurt. So I was the one who had to hold the baby for the shots. Then immediately after the shot the baby was given to the Mommy for comforting. Maybe your MIL could go and hold Ryan for you.
Believe me though, my niece and nephew love me just the same, and have no idea that I held them down for their shots. Ryan will do great, I'm sure.
