Too soon to cut things back in the garden?

I can't remember when I cut plants back last year
These are my plants in question...

Roses
Peony
Butterfly bushes
astilbe
Hosta

I cut my some of my hostas back because they were annoying me.

In general, I think it is ok to cut back when they start to yellow & flop, but I don't have any of thise other types of plants.

we usually dont cut anything back until its starts to yellow and die

I htink the warm fall is confusing the plants and we need to cut them back later this year

I agree with Lisa - wait until they are withered and yellow

I cut back my roses this weekend, just because they were out of control. I also cut back the hostas because they were really yellow and scraggly.

Everything else, like the peonies and astilbe, I'm waiting another couple of weeks to do.

I don't cut back my butterfly bush.

i just moved and I don't know what kind of flowers i have but they are pretty much all dead or dying- should i cut them and how much do i cut them?

I'm new at this gardening stuff.
