Took Aly to the ENT today - scheduling tube surgery. any info would be appreciated

well the dr said she needs tubes....as I figured. With the amount and duration of ear infections these past few months I knew it couldnt be good.

they seem to say the surgery is like 5 min long and no big deal. and info or feedback from BTDT mommies would be great.

DS had this done at 1 year. It was such an easy surgery. I literally walked him into the OR and watched him fall asleep went back to the waiting room and barely sat down before they told me to come back to recovery. He was cranky when he first woke up but once he was able to nurse he was fine and by the afternoon it was like nothing happened.

My DD is having this done tomorrow :(

I have no personal experience with tubes, but my nephew had them put in ( and had his adnoids taken out at the same time)....It was a really quick procedure and no more ear infections !!! She'll do great !

DS had it done when he was 16 months and it was the best thing we ever did!!!! He was so sick all the time with ear infections. After the surgery he had one. The surgery is pretty quick my only word of caution is that Damien had a reaction to the anesthesia. When he came out of it he was very disoriented and he ended up screaming and scratching the nurses. They actually came to get us earlier than they let parents into the recovery room so we could calm him down, we couldn't. They told us he had to calm down before they released him but I finally convinced them to let us go home. By the time we got home he was totally fine back to his normal self I asked the ENT at his follow up and he said it is a reaction that some kids have to the anesthesia. I told him it would have been nice if someone had told me I hope I didn't scare you that was not my intention I just wish someone would have told us beforehand. My DH and I were totally freaked out and thought something was wrong with him.

I hope I didn't scare you because we are so thrilled with the outcome and he went on to have another surgery and he did just fine!

Aw, poor Aly. But it sounds like it will be the best solution for her I'm sure she'll do great!
