We also opted to have her duclaws removed. After measuring the pros and cons, it seemed to be the best decision for us. I cannot believe how upset I was after we picked her up. She seemed so week and tired. She was so out of it for the meds, I couldn't stop cryingChat Icon . I know it had to be done, but I just feel so bad. I hope she has a quick recovery. I can't believe how attached I got to her so quickly!

Awww. I hate taking my pups to the vet to have stuff done. I am sure Jersey will be back to normal in no timeChat Icon

Don't worry too much, she'll be out of it for a day or two and then be fine.
Just be sure she doesn't run or jump for about a week, you don't want her to tear her stitches.

She'll be fine. It's the right thing to do,. I felt really bad when we took Katie but she was back to normal within 48 hours.

Oh good, I know she'll be fine, it's just sad seeing her like this. She threw up and won't eat. I guess she's still nauseous from being put under. I can't wait til she's back to her old selfChat Icon ANyway, quick question, I have read that getting them "fixed" can alter their personality/calm them down a bit. Has anyone noticed this with their pup?

If she does not eat or drink by today then call the vet to make sure the anesthesia did not leave any lingering affects.

As far as the personality change....in my experience I would say that consistently age is more of a factor with this rather than the surgery.Chat Icon

Hope she's feeling better today.

Thanks, she does seem to be doing much better today. Wagging her tail a bit more and she ate some yogurt and drank some water & kept it down. She was trying to bite her bandage before but I think her meds are kicking in because she past out now. She seems to be getting back to normal slowlyChat Icon I It was quite a sight seeing her go outside to pee. She can't get her duclaw bandages wet, so we had to saran wrap her legs, she was likeChat Icon Chat Icon

I think the behavior changes really only happen with male dogs.

Re: Took Jersey to get spade today

I didn't see any real change in Misty's behaviour after she recovered from the surgery. I'm not sure that it really changes their energy lever or behaviour.
