Toothache - but not

My DH got a really bad toothache this past weekend. To the point where he was taking Aleve and rubbing a numbing gel on his gums but still couldn't sleep through the night. The only strange thing was that he couldn't show me exactly which tooth was bothering him.

Well, he just got back from the dentist and they said there's nothing wrong. His x-rays and everything look fine. They think it may be a sinus infection (gave him antibiotic) or a cracked tooth (which is very hard to find right away).

Anyone else experience this? I feel so bad for him right now.

yup!! my mom had this happen a couple years ago... she had a horrible toothache, couldn't pinpoint the pain... and it turned out to be a bad sinus infection! weird, huh??
if he has anitobiotics, he should be fine... but maybe send him to his regular doctor too to get it checked out.

I once had a really bad ear infection that made it painful to open my mouth. I was sure the pain was tooth/jaw related when it turned out to be my ears.

I hope he's feeling better soon.

Yes! My tooth hurt so bad a couple of months ago - to the point where I was taking Advil every 6 hours faithfully, and it did turn out to be from sinus pressure.

We're hoping the antibiotics work. I had never heard of a sinus infection causing mouth/tooth pain. But I guess it can happen. Thanks for the replies.

it could definitely be a sinus infection - I get them pretty often and a lot of the time they are accompanied by pain in my jaw. See if an OTC decongestant like sudafed works for him.

If it was a cracked tooth, he would know. The pain is excrutiating.
