Re: Top Earning Cities in the US
I think it can totally depend upon what industry you are in. I know that as a teacher my salary, in many of the top places listed, would be 1/3 or 1/2 of what I make here.
Some of those areas might be particularly dominated with people who work in a certain lucrative industry... ex. Silicon Valley, Finance, etc.

Re: Top Earning Cities in the US
I would have definitely expected to see a couple of LI towns, as well as some Westchester and Norther Jersey towns on there.....

Re: Top Earning Cities in the US
I wasn't at all surprised to see so many Bay Area towns there... I was however surprised to see so many TX cities on the list. Especially Frisco. DH's best buddy lived there until he bought his new house last year. Frisco is nice, but I would never have thought the median income there would be $91K!

I was surprised not to see any LI neighborhoods there. Bethesda, MD is #4, we actually debated moving there about a year ago.

It doesnt say what the population is either. Some of those TX towns might have a low population that would skew the results??

right - but if there are only 10 households instead of 100....
they probably had a minimum household #, but it didnt say in the article.

Re: Top Earning Cities in the US
I think you have to look at the city that they are the suburb of. Of course Greenwich and Fairfield are int he top - not sure you could find a house under 900K there...you need a high salary to get in there
I would imagine the Bay Area neighborhoods are similar

not necessarily:
the cheapest house in: (according to realtor.com Greenwich 575K Cupertino - 698K san ramon - 475K bethesda - 519K flower mound - 105K 2 Bed, 1.5 Bath (OK - this is cheap! but HOT) burke - 414K west bloomfield - 115K (cheap - but not sure if I got the right place - if I did...pretty nice...I think its a suburb of Detroit) palo alto - 470K pleasanton - 495K yorba linda - 340K naperville - 232K (not bad - looks like asuburb of aurora) highlands ranch - 180K (not bad - but it brought up littleton - not sure if columbine affected house prices) netwon - 370K the woodlands - 90K the houses in the low range looked like shacks...but I bet they have some nice ones a little higher - but again - the heat! Lower Merion - 275K - suburb of Philly! carmel - around 100K - suburb of Indianapolis - tornados! milpitas - 550K fairfield - 310K newport beach - 475 weston - 335K wayne - under 100K to 16 million - I don't know much about wayne - maybe an option for us LIers? allen - 85K - similar to woodlands above? sugar land - 75 - see other TX frisco - 90K see above clarkstown - 299K (came up as new city - I had a friend who grew up there and she says the school distict is awful now)
OK I have way too much time on my hands!!! Avoiding work!! LOL
